Cuba Page of Wikipedia
El Jigue

Posted on 01/29/2008 1:23:50 PM PST by El Jigue

Once again the Cuba page of Wikipedia is under complete control of the left. Unfavored input has been blocked

For over a month now the page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuba

which had become far closer to reality has been turned around and now the former pro-Castro bias is being slowly restored ...

It seems significant since many undergraduates take their information from Wikipedia that a general note of caution be inserted

thank you for your time and attention

El Jigue

I've read the talk page and have seen no concerted effort to force one view over another. This is just tilting at windmills. You have to be willing to support any changes you make to the article with a valid argument as well as references. You failed to do that in your complaints. Are you trolling FR for sympathy?

I never let my students use wikipedia as a main source for anything. This is just one of many reasons.

I wouldn't let students use any encyclopedia as a primary source if I were you. Fortunately, Wikipedia and other encyclopedias give references for their claims.

Why should we believe conservatives will do anything but whine about this, just like you can find lefties giving teachers free materials for the schools--but do you ever see conservative groups create lesson plans for Federalist or the Constitution?

Thank you almost all. To that one person who read the discussion page and found it “fair” would be wise to note that discussion essentially stopped after El Jigue was blocked.

Today the left has been really busy re-writing the Wikipedia Cuba page mostly by deleting material.

Dunno who Scot Grayban that name ceased to be current on the page some time ago.

Perhaps the primary point to be made is that the same “liberals” who run Wikipedia are so determined to present only their point of view that they stage Stalinist type “trials” to eliminate dissent. In these trials the accusers charges are taken as fact, in similar fashion as in present day Cuba

A previous example is outlined in:

Daley, Larry 2006 Descriptions of Pernicious Attempts to Gain Control of the World Wide Web: The Cuba Case Proceedings of the Sixteenth Annual Meeting of the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy. 16, 236-248

Yesterday (2-25-08):

In reference to false perceptions of the Cuban “health” system inserted into the Wikipedia Cuba page discussion:

“One should note that not all agree with this positive assessment of Cuban health care system Hirschfeld, Katherine 2006 Health, Politics, and Revolution in Cuba Since 1898 Transaction Publishers. ISBN-10 0765803445 ISBN-13 978-0765803443 “

Talk about lack of an open mind it was deleted within perhaps eight minutes, by Obelin trained young socialist Natalie Erin

Today I saw an “explanation”:

Current revision

The return of El Jigue

EJ has made a couple of postings here today (which have since been deleted). Has his ban been lifted? GoodDay (talk) 16:57, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

No, his ban was permanent. However, because he uses an IP address instead of a user account, the IP address was not blocked indefinitely. I have reblocked it for six months, and if he returns when that block expires it will be blocked again. As a banned user, he is not allowed to participate in any way, which is why I reverted his edits. Natalie (talk) 16:59, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Just checking. GoodDay (talk) 17:28, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Actually, on that note I think I’m going to archive some of this old discussion. Anything that hasn’t has a new comment for several months is probably dead. Natalie (talk) 17:32, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

El Jigue

p.s. it would seem all record of my participation in Wikipedia has been deleted too. (:>)
