Well, since everybody is posting pictures, I got a pretty cool one last Sunday. We were out walking near the lake in one of the areas that was heavily flooded...we've been going out there pretty regularly to keep an eye on the bridge and to see what the water level is doing. This guy was just sitting off the side of the road preening himself and didn't seem the least bit disturbed when we stopped so I could photograph him. Usually, these are hard to get close enough to to get a good picture. Okay, so the quality could stand some improvement, but still not a bad photo.

Not bad at all...he looks like he’s used to it! :)
What a beauty. It’s so hard to get pictures like that. Lucky you!

Beautiful Blue Heron, Amazing to me how those birds can survive for generation after generation. They must be smart.

Thanks for your reply, Doggie dear. If I don't keep up with my “pings”, then they get so far back I miss them all, sigh. I really must thin the load. ;)
Thanks for the answer of ‘what trees those are’. I remember all the Aspens in CO, when we were there. They remind me in some way of our Poplars here.
I've never seen a Grey Jay here, and we are close to Canada. I wonder why all ours are Blue? You're family are better than me, as I wouldn't care for dropping Caterpillars, lol.
I love seeing all the birds that are coming to my bird-feeder, but now the Chipmunks have found a way to it by jumping on our chairs and getting on the railing. The little devils, now I'll have to move it further from my windows.
Our Mocking birds have flown the nest, and I missed the event. I was so sad because I watched and watched for it. I helped ward off the Crows when I heard their warning calls, and hope the Crows didn't get them while I was doing other things. I did notice that Mocking birds only sing while they are mating and building, which I never realized. Now that the nest is empty I hear them singing their whole chorus again.I, like you, love to watch and feed the birds. When we get a sunny day, :( I'll go find a better spot for the feeder, but none will be as close to my windows as this spot, sighhh.
Be good, and enjoy life, (I know you can and do.) and post more pics....please.

Good morning, everyone. I sure hope your weather is better than ours. We've had nothing but rain for a week, and it doesn't look much better for the next week. Groan! I got most of my flowers in, and they're drowning. I think we've had our 'week' of summer, sighh.

Aaaw, I'm sorry about your flowers. Hopefully, they can be resuscitated.
We've settled into our summertime, semi-tropical pattern... hot with scattered afternoon showers that create lots of steam. Our landscapes look wonderful but our good hair days are few and far between. LOL.
Actually, we've gotten a break today, its pretty hot but a coolish front passed through so the humidity is almost tolerable. :)

I just talked to friends in Carmel, and ashes are falling in their yard, and the smoke is becoming very thick. They are starting to worry about their horses, and getting the trailers ready for transport.
When we had the huge Brin fire here, two years ago, my dog’s vet had to move all her horses because of the smoke. It was a very tense time.
Stay safe, everyone in CA. Remember smoke inhalation can be more dangerous than actual fire.
There is a huge fire burning between my town and Phoenix right now in Crown King, Arizona.

Not bad today. We can see the foothills through the haze. A few days back you could look comfortably at the sun in mid-day.
AFAIK no fires imperiling Silicon Valley

Hey y’all. Just a quick post. I hear tell Arkansas and SW Missouri are getting drenched yet again. I’m in Kentucky and the weather is threatening here, too, but not much yet. My stepmother passed away so I am here with my dad for a few days. Anyway, will check back later. Have a good 4th. Nothing special happening here. We’re just fixin’ to run to the grocery store.
To: sweetliberty
My condolences.
Call me if you’d like to/need to talk.
