"Ugly" like what? Does your second toe sit atop your big toe? My mother had toes like that, and one of my cousins has inherited them. Never stopped either from wearing samdals, although they couldn't wear just any style.
"Piled toes" are why the shoe designers made "peep-toe" sling-backs!
