Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

We see how you behave when the wife is out of town...
Are you planning on moving somewhere where you don't have a job? Look at you! You have all this wonderful experience that you can take anywhere you go. And anywhere you go, you'll be making as much money (if not more) than you are now.
And that tax rebate you'll be getting in May is a great start on a payment savings fund. When you get ready to start that savings fund, look into this credit union.
I'm getting a red one ... I'm glad you are too!
Heh...well, in my defense, I think I’ve fit a couple months’ worth of research into the last week or so. Haven’t slept much.
I guess I obsess when I get something in my head. Just a little bit... ;-)
4.99% interest rate, which comes to 5.4% APR vs. the 7.9% the dealer had. That’s kind of a jump. And that’s about the best rate they offer to anyone, period, which makes me feel kinda good, ya know?
I’ve been really looking at my budget as I do this, which is good for me. I’ve been living like a kid with their first job for too long. I should get more organized. I’m able to sock away something every month on top of the car payment, and that’s in the plan, too.
Thanks for the CU tip! I’m also looking at a local one called Twin Star that has branches near where I work. There’s another that even has a deposit box in the building. A deposit box, but no ATM. That’s kind of a good thing, too. ;-)
Honey, I know a kid with his first job. You're no kid with his first job. I'm just sayin'...
Heh...OK, so I’m a relatively *cautious* kid with a first job. ;-) At least my credit is good. And I’m not *quite* living paycheck to paycheck.
But it’s time I started saving - not only for emergencies, but for housing and retirement and that. No matter what happens in my life, I don’t think I’m going to regret saving cash...
And I know some folks are a lot wiser about that a lot earlier in life. Granted, if I hadn’t been without a job for so long, I’d have some of what I made on the house. And I did save up for that. As it was, the profit from the house got me here and kept me out of any kind of serious debt, and I guess that’s nothing to sneeze at.
You’ve actually done quite well. And if you keep up with the news, better than a majority of Americans.
Saving is a good thing. You’re absolutely right. And it’s good that you’ve taken such a cautious approach to an addiitonal debt load.
Most people would just buy on impulse and only realize later that they’d over extended.
You’re doin’ good.
Did I tell y’all that Jr. ran out of gas last night on the way home?
It’s not like I was in a hurry to get to my class and he needed to be home with Luke or anything...
Thanks! Good to hear from you - looks like things are a bit more under control and that’s a relief.
Exciting, though!
Evening Corin - we’re glad to hear that Nana is feeling better, it’s just one day at a time.
Yes, exciting. So exciting that it stuned the thread. ;-)
Just had a talk with my Dad, partly about music, but also about cars and that. And he basically said go fer it.
I didn’t hear back from the bank yet, but probably tomorrow.
I postponed going back to the car place for a bit, so I can make sure I have all my ducks in a row first.
If the salesperson starts the pressure routine, remember ... you can always go to another Hyundai dealer. You can range from Olympia to Vancouver, and, heck, you can go over to Spokane if you need to. And, you know, Hyundai isn't the only dealer on Earth ... I'll bet the Saturn dealer in town would welcome your business, and the Pontiac guy would probably roll out a red carpet for your business.
You're not gonna trade in Van-sama, are you?
Ok - there’s a sad, sad person who has that many cats.
(high-fives fer yer dad!)
When did you get ducks? I want ducks!
Just trying to follow along is all... ;~)
I did price out base models of other brands, but I think my money goes further for the Hyundai models. I'll check again, though...can't hurt!
I still haven't signed anything anywhere, so...it's still open. Somewhat.
You're not gonna trade in Van-sama, are you?
That's the general idea. I don't need two vehicles, and honestly...I'd feel better about doing it this way since he has so many little things that need work - lights and door latches and locks and things. They can fix them.
Aw, cats are easy and fun!
Mostly.
Considering your history...I’m thinkin’ if you just wait long enough, ducks will just show up at your gate. ;-)
