The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Well...yeah...there’s that.

The main reason I’ve not done that is because of the outdoor water situation, and the fact that if I leave any water on, it leaks *gallons* under the house.

Maybe this year I’ll finally point that out to the landlord, now that he knows a little about the plumbing around this place in general. ;-)

And I can grow daffodils too! They’re 3 to 4 inches tall now and I think I’ll have to divide them this year.

Now if I could only keep the rabbits from eating my forsythia...

We’ve had a couple of mild days, and it rained like heck last night, so we can actually see the mud and grass in our front and back yards! Seems like forever since we’ve seen anything but snow!

We always have plenty of weeds in our yard, so the bunnies are well fed. ;o)

You should get a rain barrel and collect water for your yard.

It’ll go with the Subaru.

(I’m series about a rain barrel)

Nope.

That’s my last day.

Speaking of daffodils. If mine are coming up but not blooming, what’s muh problem?

I didn’t mulch or compost ‘em this winter. Was that a bad move?

That’s probably not a bad idea. You can even get ones that you can hook a hose to, no?

It appears I have bunnies with discriminating tastes.

I had some come up last year, and it seemed to take forever for them to bloom, then all of a sudden they were fully open. Seems like it may still be early yet. I discovered some Snow Drops in the bed by the front door!! They are the harbingers of Spring, along with all the chirping birds in the back yard last week. Haven’t seen any robins yet, but the chickadees and tufted titmice are everywhere!

True...

I should just have him put an extension on that darned spigot.

Still no phone call. Ungh. I hate having such a broad window of time where I can’t really do nuffin.

It’s not fair.

I can’t even really just relax, ya know?

I’m alternately playing guitar, reading, and looking at car stuff on-line, and I can’t concentrate on any one of ‘em.

Doesn’t help that Tam is hollering in the background at all times.

Don’t get me started. Al Gore is a lying sack of buffonery.

But responsible use of our resources is a good thing. And it ~should be~ a conservative issue.

Well, as long as no one else wants a glass, it just might suffice. Seriously, that’s a real run of ‘interesting times’ you have going on now. Hoping that it all turns out right.

btw - re: the ‘guests’, just tell ‘em it’s byof and byob.

Corin... I don’t think you understand the water issues here. Really... And neither does Al Gore. ;~)

There’s no water shortage issue here. It comes out of the sky for 9 months straight... And it seeps down to the water table, which here, is at about six feet, and waits there for Rosie to turn on the hose. :~)

Being married to a G.R.I.T.S. I’m being a little more passive aggressive.

I’m scouring the house for pictures of the younger sister’s kids and puttin’ them out in the living room.

No, I do understand that. At the same time, there’s nothing wrong about collecting the rain in a barrel to also be there when you need it...like when you need to flush the terlets or somethin’.

That’s all I’m sayin’.
