“I go on to glory!” *Fling scarf around neck dramatically* *ack, ack*
I’m back from my appt with the lady doctor...the cyst is practically gone! She said she wasn’t worried, but these cysts can cause hormonal upheavals in your system that might have led to my spikes in BP.
It’s likely I have high BP, but the cyst caused the really high ones.
I have thought so all along, even before I knew I had a cyst...I knew something was awry in my system because of other pesky symptoms.
I’ve gone to this particular doctor for almost 10 years...she was my doctor when I was expecting Joshua. I trust her and I feel she is the only doctor that has really listened to me.
I go back in six weeks for another follow-up.
PS: I told her that I always intended to transition gracefully into old age but that this last month felt like I tripped and fell face first into a great big pile of it.
Hopefully that's a continuing trend...
I'm just saying don't rule out a new one, because with it comes warranties, which they might even extend, so you have things covered for a few years as far as possible breakdowns. But a new one gives you LOTS of peace of mind.
LOL! I forgot about the ‘uni-brow’ one!
mmmm....Outback...home of the bloomin’ onion...
You’ve been saying for awhile that you thought your hormones were doing strange things! The doc confirmed you were right!
I could afford a couple hundred a month. Frankly, I don’t think any of the new cars (at least the new cars I like) are gonna fit into that, not even with good financing deals. I’m not being stubborn - I’m being realistic. Trust me, I like the idea of a new vehicle, but I also know the only new vehicle I might be able to afford would be something like a new, manual transmission, very-base-model Chevy or Ford, and I don’t really care for any of those. I also don’t know if I could drive a manual after all this time without one. Yes, Kia are cheap...but the resale value of those is really lousy. They’re better than they used to be, I think, but their [bad] reputation is already made, for the time being.
I think I’m going to keep an eye out for a relatively new Subaru wagon (hard to find for a good price with low miles!) or a Pontiac Vibe. Both of those are more exciting (to me, anyhow) than a Honda Civic, but they’d be cars I wouldn’t mind driving for awhile. And both should be able to go for a good long while. And handle dog and bike and all.
Yeah, that’s more like what I want! For that one, though...the miles would worry me, just ‘cause the second it rolls over 100k, the financing falls into a different bracket, I’m finding.
There are lots of Subaru dealers around. I’ll keep watch. And I think sometimes the Legacy model goes for a good price, just ‘cause it doesn’t have the cool name and some of the flashier details that the Outback has.
Mmm...bloomin’ onion...
Want...with horseradish sauce....
So, Nana’s calcium levels were too high. That caused the symptoms she’s been having. They don’t know if it caused the dehydration or vice versa. But at least now they know what to treat. The doctor did not seem concerned about the MRSA. He said that’s common in nursing homes.
Right now he’s looking at her being in the hospital through next week.
You do the math. I’m too skeered to.
Well, I sure hope they can get a handle on it.
I always underestimate the importance of all these mineral levels. We go our whole lives not even knowing what they are... and yet, whenever people are in the hospital and gravely ill, it’s these mineral levels they start chasing around and trying to correct.
I know. I had no idea calcium could do all of that. But it’s good to know they’ve pinpointed the problem.
Ouch. :-\
Glad they've found what's wrong, though, and are able to treat it.
Hopefully they have. I remember them chasing around various numbers with my mom when she was sick. With Mack it was Potassium or something, but in chasing it around then it got too high, then they had to go back down again, and it was too low again or something. It’s a moving target to try to get the system back in balance. 2J probably understands it all better than I do.
Yeah I understand. And I think we all realize this stuff is just going to keep happening.
