The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Well, I just got your other note and was about to ask if she went.

Hope all goes well with Nana and the Missus today.

Glad Nana’s doing a little better, at least.

Safe travels to the Mrs.!

And good luck with the car...

Think you mentioned that, yeah.

I almost always preferred to browse by comments, all forums mixed, so I’m not too upset now that the comments link is on all the threads.

I use that function, too...but sometimes I just want to see if, say, there’s been a recent post in the Hobbit Hole (especially if my comments are now a page behind) or the Saddle Club or what-have-you.

And there’s no way to sort out just chat. Or just religion or news, to narrow stuff down.

Urgh.

Twitter-Kat has had a remarkable scare this morning. We heard this ruckus and clattering around on the porch, but opened the door and looked around and didn't see anything. The horses came spooked out of the barn, but we couldn't figure out what it had been. Tweek was out, so I looked for her, figured she and one of the ferals had made the ruckus. Called and looked, couldn't find her anywhere.

So we fuss around outside with ecurbh loading some bad hay I have to take back to the feed store, and he hears something rustling behind a bunch of boards in the barn and a meow. We get a light and shine it back there and there's Tweek, hiding back there by herself, looking a little freaked out. We shine the light around and start moving boards to get her out of there and I find this (below). I swear, her collar is hanging from this big ole branch, just like this, when we found it.

The poor thing was all hung up on that branch! Dragging it around until she ran back behind some of those boards and got ~it~ snagged on a board and she could finally turn around and back out of the collar.

I can't imagine how she managed to do all that. But it hasn't helped her nerves or her blood pressure any. If we wouldn't have had to take the hay back, we wouldn't have even been back there to find her.

It is a good reminder to make sure all collars are loose enough to slide over their heads if they get caught on something.

Tweek, I think will spend the rest of the day relaxing IN the house.

Miss Cat doesn’t hold with collars.

A few times Miss Emily showed up at the door with one leg hung up in her collar and hopping around on 3 legs.

Well, it’s hard to know what the best thing to do is... If she gets lost, I want her to have her phone number on. But I don’t want to hang her.

Miss Cat is a mostly indoor cat so I guess a collar isn’t too important.

There are a lot of lost collars in the field behind thehouse.

Tattoo it on her butt and keep her shaved.

As the owner of a cat with a recently shaved butt, that is not the way to go.

In other newz, not only did Mrs. decide to go on her business trip. She found out when she got there that she's ~presenting~ this afternoon. They hadn't bothered to tell anyone.

Oops.

You sure you don’t want a free color printer? I’m gonna craigslist it and see if I can get someone to take it so I don’t have to throw it away.

Got our new one yesterday. :~)

I still can’t imagine her running around and getting to where she did, with that branch hooked on her neck!

So far so good with the BP. It’s been two days now since I last took the pill I quit and I just checked it...112/78.

I’m still on a pill and the patch.

I think I’ll give it two weeks then start slowly decreasing the other pill. I “may” be able to get off of it too...because I’ve taken it all along and it NEVER lowered my pressure. I really think it was the patch that did it.

If I can wind up just with a once a week patch to keep my pressure down, I’ll be a happy hypertensive woman!
