My Outlook is ~still~ compacting. It seems happy, it’s not locking up or slowing down my machine in any way, but it’s been going more’n two hours now. Is this just the result of 8 years of not doing it and the sheer size of it? Or is it actually frozen? Ever done one that took a long time to do?

If it sounds like the hard drive is still chugging away, I guess I’d let it go awhile longer. If you deleted a ton, there may be a lot of space to recoup.

No, let it finish. Even if it takes all night, or your pst file may get corrupted.

This comes up in outlook, and is similar to something on the exchange server end of things. You can delete items from the database, but the space is still reserved for the db until you officially tell it to let go of the space. That’s what compaction does. It sounds like you’ve got more than a gig to recover, and that could take a while.

A meteor? Any idea what time?

I had the wierdest nightmare about 1:30am. I was attacked by a cougar (the cat kind, not the wazzu kind) and jumped out of bed yelling at the top of my lungs. Really odd... even for me. :-)

Thanks on the Outlook thing.

The meteor was at 5:30 am. Big flash of light all across the NW.

It does not explain your dream or your jumping out of bed behavior at 1:30 ;~)

Big question is, do you agree with yourself still? :~)

I hate it when I read really old posts and think... “I said that?”

Probably about half of it. The good news is I can say “that wasn’t me, it was Ward...”

Well, if I’d have known it was going to take a long time, I’d have waited and done it tonight. I’m not receiving any email all this time, and it would just be predictable that today is the day my boss is trying to ask me something.

I had a weird dream too...early this morning sometime. I dreamed I was walking along a dirt road and two pit bulls charged at me!

I literally woke myself up hollering! I NEVER do that!

Well, here’s the latest info on my BP. The doctor told me today that she has checked me for everything she can think of and is now going to send me to a nephrologist (kidney doctor). Blood pressure is normally controlled by your kidneys and she just feels like something is going on there.

If after he assesses me, he can find nothing wrong, then she’ll send me to a cardiologist. I don’t know what they’ll look for, but she said she just doesn’t know what else to do.

She released me to go back to work and when I went by Employee Health to turn in the release, they assessed me and found my BP was 194/104. The physician came in and talked to me at length...he said it sounded like a condition called pheochromocytoma. I was tested for that but he said I might have to do that test repeatedly to catch it. We’ll see.

He told me I could go back to work on a trial basis...to take it easy. So I went and spoke to my supervisor and she suggested I only work four hours at a time a couple of times a week. That’s perfect.

The physician at Employee Health told me something too, that I didn’t know. He said that when I came in for my New Employee physical in December, my BP at that time was 166/85. That was HIGH for me...and would’ve caught my attention right then if I’d known.

Well... maybe, if I’d ever done that before. I don’t know what my comcast login would be.

It’s alright. It’s been months since there’s been an urgent need in email... what would be the odds? :~)
