The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Unbelievably goofy. I was so hopeful too, because it looked like the new med was going to do the trick.

Becky came to see me! Brought me a darling Precious Moments figurine.

Right before she left, I said “Hey! Let’s check my bp and see what it is!” Just on a whim.

210/122

~sigh~

Well, it’s going back down now...150/100. But Becky stuck around for a while to see if I needed to go to the doctor.

She bought us all pizza too...which was REAL nice, since I hadn’t even thought about lunch.

...I really, really don’t like the feeling of getting water up my nose...

Yeah, it ain't the most comfortable thing in the world, but using the salt solution isn't as bad as having it happen with just plain water. I do used filtered water, so there's no chlorine in it and that might make a difference too.

I'd give it a go maybe a couple of times a day over the weekend and see if that starts to help. When mine get real bad, I've been known to get up a couple of times a night and do it.

WTH? Indy’s getting a little long in the tooth, ain’t he?

Well, it's 20 years later in both the story line, and Harrison Ford's real life.

Fanfic says that since Indy and his father both drank from the Holy Grail, both can expect extremely long lifespans, but not immortality.

I haven’t seen the trailer yet, but I saw that Shia LaBeouf is in the movie. I like him.

Evening winmag - saw the trailer, thoroughly enjoyed it.

IIRC Indy carried the S&W Hand Ejector in Raiders, a Colt New Service in Temple and a Webley-Green in Last Crusade. I’m hoping he tries a Colt 1911 for the Skull.

I’m glad to see he still likes the Indy character. Show the folks what us over 40 year guys can still do.

Rummaging through the closet, can’t seem to find the fedora, found the bullwhip and leather jacket though...

Take heart. Harrison Ford's one of them over 60 year guys.

Well, it's been established in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles that Indy was still alive and kicking to the age of 93...

Looks like it's going to be a good year for movies!

I was making the age bracket a bit more inclusive..some of us have either 60 or 50 squarely in our crosshairs. :-)

Sure looks like it, thanks for the link. I enjoyed the TV series. Saw a show on the making of the series and they were using some pretty cool special effects.

I was fascinated to read how detailed a history George Lucas developed for Indy!

I seem to remember he had a spare M1911 for the shootout in the Tibetan bar in "Raiders". With all his worldwide contacts, he could probably pick up any throw-away in any country on earth.

The movie is set in 1957, and since it involves commies, maybe we'll see an early guest appearance of the AK47. Of course, the nazis who flew that flying wing had P38s in 1935. I guess his universe has a slightly different timeline from us.
