The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

The daffodils and garlic are showing new growth....

Shut uuuup! We're expecting a couple more inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. We decided to do errands and go on to the late afternoon Mass today, then we can just hunker down overnight and tomorrow!

Heh. I don’t know what they’re growing for. It’s not like we’ve had the best of weather this year.

Houston, the turnips, radishes and lettuce have sprouted!

Steve’s prepping the asparagus bed.

I’m re-potting my Earth Box.

BP spiked at 160/120 this morning but has gone back down now, 2 hours post-medication. That was in my “high” arm. My “low” arm showed 154/98.

Haven’t forgotten! Maybe I’ll pick one up next payday. I don’t think I’ll have anything to mix before then.

Right now I’m working on the window in the Oceanic Blue room. What fun!

I’m harvesting lettuce out of a box in TheSunRoom. Need to get my seed order together and sent off to Burpee.

Oh yeah...we’re going to have a community garden at werk this year. Maybe with all the hawks and stuff patroling out there I can get some tomatoes and okra.

Er...dang...maybe my post to ExGeeEye was rather poorly timed, considering. Hope all turns out OK! Prayers...

He’s a lot better! Ambling around pretty good, no outbursts of hollering pain. We’ve let him out of the crate awhile and he got up on the chair/couch and did a good roll and scratch.

We’re letting him be out awhile as long as he stays quiet.

Well, good! Heh...so long as he doesn't put his back out rolling around. ;-)

I'm having a lazy day. Got my hair cut, got coffee, and bought enough paper that I can write like there's no tomorrow.

Judging from some of the threads goin' on, maybe there won't be a tomorrow...so maybe that's a good thing.

I also baked my first sourdough with the new old starter. It isn't pretty, but it smells good...so there's that. There were two different ways they said you could slash the top, so I tried one of each. Don't think I cut deep enough on either one, which is one of the reasons it ain't pretty.

Well, thanks. ;-) I think that’s their best angle. They’re a bit bumpy in places.

Do you guys want one? The recipe made two, and I can freeze the extra, but I could also run it over when they’ve cooled a bit.

Mmmm. I was planning to put a roast in the crock-pot overnight. I might just set up the Bread Machine so we can have some fresh bread with it for lunch tomorrow.

OK - no rush :~) We’ve got to head out here in a few minutes... to go to Tiffs and feed her horses. So if you see us head out... we’ll be back in about 30 minutes or so.
