It's the most wonderful time of the year...With my Utes winning bowl games and BYU losing so I'll be of good cheer...it's the most wonderful time of the year...
--Ow! Tomatoes hurt you know. Sheesh...
During the regular season, I would normally do my fancy and mildly humorous graphical elements and those of you who would like me to feature their school's games, I would oblige. However, since we've got miles to go before we sleep, I'll re-ping the list as we go along and include said graphics. Sound like a deal? Excellent.
Tomorrow the fun will begin. (For me, at least). :)
Stay dry and safe.
The way the rules are for the BCS, it is not suprising why Georgia goes to the Sugar Bowl instead to the more challenging Rose Bowl. The only conference I do not see is the Big East, but then the Big East like the WAC, Conference USA, ete., are afterthoughts in the college football world.
Georgia couldn’t have gone to the Rose unless the Sugar had given its consent, since the Sugar lost LSU to the NCG.
If you are not happy with another bowl blowout, may I suggest the Tom & Jerry marathon on Boomerang.
It was funny today I kept flipping back and forth between the hockey game in Buffalo where it was cold and snowy and the football game in Orlando where it was much nicer.
Thanks for making my New Years Day with the comments.
...or Beach Patrol on TRU TV (formerly Court TV)
In other words, the Sugar was desperate for an SEC team to play and needed Georgia badly to be invited. Oh well.
But this means I’d have to go back to work. So I’ll do the “job” of watching the rest of the game. :)
Smart arse! 6 days to go!
Good point fellow 2nd shifter. I closed up shop at 8 tonight instead of 9, because of the snow. An advantage of being the one who pays the bils, I guess.
The Rose never bothered to ask for permission from the Sugar. It wouldn’t have done any good, as I’m sure they knew, for the Sugar didn’t have any better eligible options. So, the Rose could ask permission and be publicly saddled with their second choice, or they could declare that they were delighted to stick with “tradition” and pick the team they would get anyway. They went with the better of two bad choices.
I notice the stadium announcer isnt talking over the Georgia band.
Why go to the Rose bowl when you can go to the sugar bowl? Why didn’t the Sugar bowl ask for USC?
The Rose Bowl gets the Pac-10 champion and the Big-10 champ unless one (or both) is invited to the NCG. Only the Rose and the NCG were eligible to have USC or OSU this year.
Where did you get this information? Eligible????
You’ll find the rules (and a link) on post 659.
In other words, no bowl other than the NCG and the Rose is permitted to have the Pac-10 or the Big Ten champion under current BCS rules.
As someone who grew up a mile from the Rose Bowl (i.e., in paradise), I cannot even begin to understand the presupposition of your question.
Hey, I missed most of today’s bowl games!
I was hanging out with the Big L (aka Laurie). I’m just getting up to speed on what happened.
Thanks for pinging me last night with the Univ of Minnesota’s big maroon M.
