**Ladies and Gentlemen...it's the FR College Football 2007-08 Bowl Games Thread**

Posted on 12/19/2007 1:19:19 PM PST by GOP_Raider

It's the most wonderful time of the year...With my Utes winning bowl games and BYU losing so I'll be of good cheer...it's the most wonderful time of the year...

--Ow! Tomatoes hurt you know. Sheesh...

During the regular season, I would normally do my fancy and mildly humorous graphical elements and those of you who would like me to feature their school's games, I would oblige. However, since we've got miles to go before we sleep, I'll re-ping the list as we go along and include said graphics. Sound like a deal? Excellent.

Tomorrow the fun will begin. (For me, at least). :)

Thanks to the Aggies for getting the Nittany Lions FIRED UP!

Reminds me of the thuggish Miami Hurricanes before the 1987 Championship Game.

Very true.

Likewise, if Houston could ever get a defense they might have won a bowl game or two in the last 5 years.

MSU might been able to pull it out if their punt returner did not drop the last 2 receptions. I was thinking that Ryan might be a good fit for the Atlanta Falcons next year.

Oh yeah, the one team that could REALLY need a QB would probably be the Falcons. Dog gone it, I am surprised I didn’t think of that.

I don't know about you but when I think excitement, I immediately think today's slate of bowl matchups. Let's get to 'em, shall we?

Our pals Biggirl and Man50D will get to enjoy their UConn Huskies in the Meineke Car Care Bowl against Wake Forest at 1 Eastern (on ESPN) Now, I'm up late pouring over all of the hype leading up to the Hawkeye Cauci but I did want to say that it has been an immense pleasure getting to know the football version of the Huskies this season. It might be a little rainy and wet for this one, but it will be 65 degrees for a high. Why can't it be 65 degrees today where I live, damn it?

UCF will take on Mississippi State in the Liberty Bowl (4:30 pm on ESPN) You may know that the Knights of Central Florida won their first C-USA Championship of the World a few weeks ago beating Tulsa, and that the Bulldogs beat Ole Miss as the t-shirts they printed clearly state. What you may not know is that UCF running back Kevin Smith has run for 2,448 yards this season (181 away from Barry Sanders' all time record)--and that Mississippi State head coach Sylvester Croom looks kind of like my old high school track coach but that's neither here nor there.

As a nightcap, Penn State will play Texas A&M in the Alamo Bowl (8 pm, ESPN) Rumors of Joe Paterno's demise have, as one might have guessed, been greatly exaggerated. But most importantly, Erin Andrews will be on the sidelines so set your TiVo's and make sure your wives and girlfriends don't find out. It'll be our little secret. ;)

Enjoy the games. Someone wake me up in time for the Meineke Bowl, please.

GOP Raider thanks for doing a great job with the college football thread. It's been very entertaining. I suspect today's game between UConn and Wake Forest will be the same. Don't worry about the temperature. Eventually it will be 65 degrees where you live.

Go UConn!!!!!!!

Hi Man50D, how was your Christmas? Mine’s was good. Today the 29th is here, the long awaited Meneke Car Care Bowl is going to start in a few short hours time. UConn will show the rest of the country why it is a team to watch not only today, but next season. This is a move up.

Go UConn Huskies!!!!

Hi Man50D, how was your Christmas? Mine’s was good.

I had a good Christmas. I'm glad you had the same. I'm looking forward to today's game. UConn had a breakout season much like the Men's and Women's basketball teams many years ago. The latter two haven't looked back since. Hopefully the football program will have the same future.

I was listening to the Brad Davis talk show this morning. A retired sportswriter told Davis Michigan was going to offer Randy Edsall the head coaching position if Rich Rodriguez had rejected the offer. I'm glad he accepted. Now he's being sued by West Virginia!

One other thing I forgot to mention earlier this season. When I attended the Louisville game a friend of mine told me someone he knew in the football program informed him UConn is working on a home and home series with Boston College starting next year and is also working on a game against Notre Dame at Giants Stadium. Fact or football fodder? We shall see!

Happy that the UWV head coach accepted the offer by Michigan, so that coach Edsell can stay put!:)

LOL. Did you see Coach Paterno's response that that aggie cheerleader might just have a point? Hilarious and classy.

Thanks a lot for the kind compliment, guy and gal. 10-0 halftime lead for the Huskies. I’ve got a fridge full of Pabst so I’m ready. *cracks knuckles*

I agree with all three predictions but I have to think the Liberty Bowl might be a little lower scoring than that.
