His name was Josh Evans. He was 16 years old. And he was hot.
"Mom! Mom! Mom! Look at him!" Tina Meier recalls her daughter saying.
Josh had contacted Megan Meier through her MySpace page and wanted to be added as a friend.Yes, he's cute, Tina Meier told her daughter. "Do you know who he is?"

I am having trouble following this article for some reason...and don’t have time to go reread it but..
some people are just rude and this women is a bitch...but I don’t see what laws she violated....it’s a grey area since whe was an older adult with a 13 year old though...kids/young adults do this all the time mostly as jokes.
In college my roommate was a online slut meeting girls that way...my other roommate and I would create fake female AOL accounts and he would contact “karen2hold” to talk too...the funny thing is that he would come into our rooms and we would ask what are you doing. He would say he is talking to this girl named “karen2hold” but he would never notice Karen2holds AOL icon flashing on our computer screens 2 feet away from him..he would them go back in his room and continue to talk to Karen2hold
Actually he just turned 12. Boys are strange. He weighs more now than I weighed as a freshman in college. He has grown two inches since Nov 2.
But boys are easy compared to girls. The boys don’t come with all the drama. Oh Lord, it is overwhelming.
It must’ve been love.
This is such a sad story. Makes me wonder what is wrong with people anymore. They involve themselves in their childrens lives in all the wrong ways.
How could these people do such a thing?
So very sad.
Indeed, and it shows these 'adults' have their own mental problems.
Hard to believe no charges will be filed.
I am a literate fellow.
I have been known to turn a phrase.
I have no definition. I have no word that can describe what these people did. It is a new depravity which currently is beyond definition.
What they did is(in my estimation) indescribable.
your humble servant...etc. etc.
What was so outrageous was the parents who perpetrated this "hoax" then had the grieving family over to comfort them. The grieving family was storing a ping-pong table for the perpetrators. Then the grieving family found out who had created the fake Josh Evans and destroyed the table. Now the perps are suing the grieving family!
Wow, this one seems like it should be an urban legend.
What scumbags.
............ To milk a lot of money out of this for themselves.
Took a lot of scrolling down and skimming to find out what happened....I’m still not 100 percent sure.
Does anyone here really believe the adults who did this show any remorse?
They are ultimately responsible for allowing their daughter to have the MySpace account in the first place,
-But they monitored her use and checked up on content, and gave real-time advice on the issues. This is way more than 99.8 percent of parents do, I don’t think they were being irresponsible. The child did not have the password, had to ask for access.
True, they did not realize that they were faced with a team- a team!- of malicious adults but that’s way beyond normal.
The Meirs continue to make bad choices. They are stupid not to file a civil lawsuit and stupid not to allow it to be well known in their neighborhood exactly what their neighbors did to them and their daughter.
They were also stupid to allow their thirteen year old daughter have a myspace account, and since they did, to not make it clear to their daughter that people and what they type on myspace are not real. That it’s an imaginary world where anyone can say and be anything and anybody they want. If she had been older she might have understood that. I hate to say it, but the Meirs are stupid and they raised a stupid daughter.
Those adults who created the account are really sick. I also feel really sorry for the other teenage girl, who wrote one of the messages - she was told it was OK, but now she’ll have to live the realisation that she was lied to and because of that she was involved in causing the suicide of another girl.
I hate myspace. I used to have an account, but I don’t remember whether or not I deleted it. However, I do remember that I stopped using it because of all the stupid drama that was going on (ie, OMG I’m SOOO depressed because nobody’s said anything about my new picture! ahhh, I’m going to post some nasty and untrue he-said-she-said stuff to get more attention because the virtual world isn’t focused on me right now!), a few major technical issues that annoyed me to no end, and the now inescapable spam.
I can’t believe what I just read! That is totally evil!
Standing Ovation!!!
actually it is very normal. Myspace is packed with vermin who spend all day trying to mess with people and gossiping, telling lies behind each others backs. It’s how they get their kicks.
Teenage girls can be cruel enough, but to add the experience of an adult makes for potent harrassment.
This story leaves me deeply troubled, and I think back to my own daughter’s struggles with her MySpace experiences.
