That wasn’t my thought, but I suspect it wouldn’t work, anyway!
I’m assembling things that I can pack ahead of time that I won’t need, on the off chance that I get a whim and decide to take off somewhere. If it’s always ready, then so am I, and I’ve lessened the stress of trying to make sure I “have everything.”
I do that. My ditty bag (toiletries kit) is packed & ready to go at all times, unless meds are needed for the trip -- like . Several other items are also ready to go. My big issue these days is making sure the primary electronics bag has the AC adapters for where I'm headed (it holds essential accessories such as travel mouse, laptop power supply, USB drive, etc.).
The big issues are clothing (shirts mainly -- I now have my "travel wardrobe"), and making sure I have my travel papers, all the chargers, reading materials, etc. in my backpack.
