Thanks Backhoe. We had to put Lilly down last October, and I remember the thread you posted for your best friend, around the same time, I think. BTW, how is the centrifugal puppy? Wife Miss Emily sends you her kindest wishes, too. Thanks Miss Emily. *HUGS*
Yes, it was a year ago in February several strokes felled Taffy ( 14 years ) and we brought the vet out to put her to sleep.
And after about three days, the silence was so profound ( how does one medium-sized dog have so much life? ) we went to Animal Control and got what they claimed was "a six-month old Collie..."
Vet looked at his teeth, said "four months!" and now he's 60 pounds of Golden Retriever, and eating like a horse, and still growing.
Miss Emily keeps threatening to start a blog, "The Truth About Golden Retrievers..."
Yes, they are fine dogs, but "quiet, sedate, and good around old people and children, because they are so gentle" doesn't seem to apply to this one.
Midway down the page,
starts the tale of Cole, The Canine Circular Saw.
---------------------------------
As Miss Emily noted:
Backhoe and I are the proud parents of a baby boy named Cole. He is a part collie puppy and so far has:
rearranged most of our throw rugs
stolen a pair of Backhoe’s shoes
discovered that heaters are hot
had diarrhea twice
thrown up once
scared the daylights out of our cockatiel
tried to eat my heating pad
stolen my foot massager
and hes only been here an hour and a half.
The house is no longer too quiet.
Puppies do sleep, dont they?????
And he steals shoes, and the mechanic’s rag I habitually keep in my hip pocket...
( And we learned from the mobile Vet, who came out to check him two days ago, that is is not the six months of age the shelter claimed...
...he’s four months old. Chew, chew, bark, gnaw, run and fall, run and fall... )

We still have Rush. He is out of sorts tonight. He was here when Axel passed, and kept smelling him, before the doctor took him away.
Ahhh, we'll be OK.
Thanks for the nice memories. *HUG*
