I've done that a few times. The memories you get are worth the expense, and any trouble you run into.

Did that with family ca 1964. The catch now is time vs. money, and especially time. For all I now have a generous (in my experience) vacation time policy, the problem is taking it all at once. There seems to always be a meeting or conference I need to be attending.
