Here's the important passage, right from the first two paragraphs of the book ...
........Tawney awakened, stiff and uncomfortable. She was also naked and on the floor. Well, that had happened before. Discovering that she was in a cage was not a good sign.
........ Despite her grogginess, and general ill-feeling, she snapped wide awake. The cage appeared to be sturdily built, and beyond it she could see that she was in a ships stateroom. A man was sleeping in the bed.
So...if Tawney is on the floor of the cage, why is the man on the bed? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
