The profession does attract a lot of people who enter the field as part of a self-help program...

Also a lot of psychiatrists are medical students who for one reason or other don’t care to continue and switch to psychiatry.

We'll see what the shrink says.
BTW, my Dr says it's getting harder and harder to find a shrink in Silicon Valley. Apparently insurance companies are getting really pissy about paying them and they are abandoning their practices because they can't make a go of it.
Trust me. There is no shortage of people needing a shrink here!

You’d probably feel a lot better if you moved to a red state. I know I would.

If my kids weren’t here, yes. I’d move in an instant. Somewhere further south so the SAD wouldn’t be an issue.
Probably move in with catpuppy, God knows I’ve been paying his bills long enough...

I think so, although it could also be in America. I have seen woods like that on both sides of the Atlantic, but America certainly has the best Fall foliage of any country.

The eeeeeeevil slime mom is the problem. She won't move out of hyperliberalville.
Darling Daughter is successfully launched, at least as far as UC Santa Cruz. I would miss her terribly, but I've pretty much given her all the guidance that I can.
Ratboy is 14. A bit young to abandon to the tender (and nonexistent) mercies of his oh-so-liberal mom, yet still young enough to need a feminist female parent in place.

Supposed to be the only effective treatment....and very effective. I fought with insurance when I was in Colorado to finally get approved for one, then couldn't get it because the company didn't have a vendor number. My doctor then was a sufferer and had one in his office. He swore by it. Now there are a lot more companies that make them and they can be had at a more reasonable price than what they cost then. What little experience I had with light therapy did a lot more good than anti-depressants. The anti-depressants don't treat the source of the problem, so they can't really be expected to be very effective.
