I thought that Howard mentioned in Seidlin's Court that he didn't know that he was in Anna's will prior to receiving it. But that can't be correct because there is a conversation with KE about "Anna and I were just talking about changing it". IIRC, it was a taped message and only Howard and KE were discussing it.
Most wills contain succession clauses...If this happens then it goes to...
I think that's PART of what Dannielynn's birth certificate was about...and Howard expected to retain that right and expected the Bahama Court to support that right.
When that wasn't going to happen, Howard HAD to make a deal with Larry.
I don't think Howard wanted Dannielynn either and if things had gone his way with the court supporting him as the father, he MIGHT have given Dannielynn to Virgie (just as Anna had given Danny to Virgie) with a deal attached, of course.
But once Howard made the "I Hate Mommy" tape, that idea was in the trash.

well, speaking of Rale and Stern, seems to me at one time Rale was boasting about being ‘second’ or ‘co-’ executor. Then a little later, Stern was filing to be ‘special administrator’ - wouldn’t that kind of castrate the ‘second’ executor? Could that be why Rale kinda dropped off the radar?
I did notice early on a little rift between the two, when Rale was stating in an interview that Anna was sad and ‘wanted to be with Dannielynn’, that she missed her while she was at the hotel, and wanted to get back to her, while everyone else in the Stern camp was saying Anna was missing ‘daniel’ and ‘wanted to be with him’, in their correographed ‘suicide’ chanting.
It appears, that even tho’ Howie was perfectly capable of making travel arrangements for ET, he wasn’t capable of talking to Rale himself. Rale also, appeared to be oblivious to the drugs flowing into the Horizons.
RALE: And really, I — the one memory I have of just the last conversation with Anna was that she was sad because she really missed Dannie Lynn. And it was just kind of tragic because she never got to see her again and she — it was just, just something that sticks in my mind, how she wanted to be with Dannie Lynn. And...
KING: So you had to be bowled over at her death?
RALE: I was shocked. I, frankly, didn’t believe it, at first, because I get all kinds of calls all the time. And even — I can’t even begin to describe some of the calls. And so I didn’t believe it until I got the — I saw on my cell phone, the cell phone from Howard coming on there and then Howard in the background, I knew it was true. And somebody else gave the message with Howard choked up in the background.
Then after that I did talk to the fire department and the hospital and, of course, everybody confirmed what happened.
