They’re jokesters
“Wild guess...Bird Dance Beat?”
Nope. I was a song named A-Bone. (it sucked)
I think it was the fricken Rivingtons.
Yes, it was. They recorded on Liberty records.
“But there are a lot of later songs that used the Pappa Oom Mow Mow line without paying the Rivingtons a dime.”
THe Oak Ridge Boys song Elvira used a variation of that line, but it really ripped off Searchin’ by the Coasters.(gonna find her)
Thanks — unfortunately the sound on this computer is crapped out and I can barely hear it. I’ll give it a listen on a better system when I get a chance.
King of the Surf is the flip of Surfin’ Bird. I am holding 4 copies of the original right now all identical.
I also got Whoa Dad/Walkin’ My Baby
Peppermint Man/New Generation
Bad News/On the Move
Bird Dance Beat/A-Bone all on Garrett records.
Mellencamp is the only one with a tie to Rock. What these others have in common with Rock does not come quickly to mind. Who is next, “Right Said Fred?”
I’ve seen his show three times (younger and wilder days) and I was ALWAYS left feeling like I underpaid. It’s like a live horror movie.
“The HOF is a joke.”
I certainly agree with you. Some of the greatest artists and music goes unnoticed by most people.
The Beastie Boys actually played instruments on some of their early records. They actually started out as a punk band and morphed into a rap group. Their newest CD is all instrumental in fact.
The RRHOF is clearly having problems finding rock bands to induct that will get people excited to go to the ceremony for.
Dave Clark Five! YESS!!
Can’t beat the British Invasion music. Thanks for the *PING*, Silvie!
Hmm... My long-term memory is failing me.
When you’re on YOU TUBE, search the Jennifer Warnes version. I believe she co-wrote it...and does a beautiful job of singing it.
I take it you're a Dick Dale fan?
Amen!
Going to concerts is a hobby of mine and I've been to plenty, and I must say, by far the loudest show I've ever seen was by a 70-year-old Dick Dale at the Wetlands in New York City. I got dragged to this show by my father who is a major Dale fan and have not looked back since. That guy is a guitar magician.
Did somebody slip spike my chilli tonight???
Agreed!!!
Go to Sundazed and get the 4-disc Trashmen boxed set. AND THERE ARE STILL AT LEAST 4 more CDs of Trashmen you can buy.
The boxed set covers them through the years with their early rocl and roll band to link wray covers, chuck berry, live shows, Surfin Bird songs, Christmas songs, up through their Bob Dylan angry young man phase recorded in Texas (Same Lines).
