I’m in a small group that is reading John as well. We’re in Chapter 7, and are averaging a chapter every 2 or 3 weeks . . . we are the tortoises of Bible study.

They fall into a category, along with Plato’s Republic, More’s Utopia, Bacon’s Utopia, Augustine’s City of God, and a truckload of novels from the Civil War to the present of utopic and dystopic novels. BNW and 1984, and Skinner’s work, appeared about the same time, as did Rand’s Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Add Asimov’s Foundation series. It’s a fascinating and very popular genre since it all seems somewhat plausible and prophetic yet is impossible in various ways.

It was okay, it did follow the book a little more closely then the mini-series with Collin Firth. That being said, I still love the mini-series better. The actors portrayed the passion and pride of the times much better. It was beautiful

I’ve read most of the P & P “continuations”, my favorite so fat being “Mr. Darcy’s Diary” It was HILLARIOUS to see how he squirmed in the face of his ever burgeoning feelings for Elizabeth. Elizabeth has to be by far my favorite character in literature.
So far, Mr D takes a wife is good, written in the Austen style, expands on characters (some brilliant, some not so) I would recommend it for any Austenphyle

It took us about 3 months to finish chapter 15!I thought we were slow; three months to cover one chapter, now that's impressive!
John 15 has one of my favorite lines of scripture:
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Sorry to hear that. I actually just finished it and I loved it. I thought the first 20 pages or so were a bit uneven but after that I sailed right through it.
What did you not like about it?
