This is going to get a crypto ping, because it is very similar to the story of Springheel Jack.

Today it's UFOs and Bigfoot, but in 18th century England, everyone's favorite mystery was Springheel Jack. Allegedly, he was a tall, powerful man with superhuman jumping abilities (it was once said he jumped over an eight foot-tall fence and escaped when cornered by the autorities) and burning red eyes (and according to some, the ability to breathe fire). He was known to violently attack women and would try to rip off their clothes with "his long, sharp claws."

The Springheel Jack legend is largely forgotten, but believe it or not, sightings have continued to this day. Could there be a connection...?

Well, makes for a good story, anyway.
