I have personally known 3 families who are middle class and have a net worth of over $1000000. All did living it through below their means, saving for a rainy day, invest heavily, but most importantly avoiding debt like a terminal sexually transmitted disease.

Living below your means and saving for a rainy day are always a good idea. I’d usually recommend avoiding debt, too — except that in some cases it makes all the sense in the world to have it.
