I think there's no way the NFL would have them forfeit a game over this. I'm no fan of the Patriots, but why the heck would this be against the rules anyway? When the coach uses signals to send in a play from the sideline, he's doing it within plain sight of about 80,000 people in the stadium!

Really, what is to stop any team from placing someone in the stands behind the opponent's bench and just calling in the signals? How could the NFL possibly police this?
I am a huge Pats fan and will be VERY disappointed if this is true though. They knew the rules and if they flagrantly flouted them they should pay a high price.
