The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Ah, OK. I guess my suggestion was kinda stoopid.

Not stoopid at all. I don't bake a lot, so I'm open to any suggestions. I put the kisses in the freezer so that they're cold when I put them on the warm cookies. Seems to be working better, but it's taking a long time for the chocolate to set up again.

I'm wondering if the white chocolate melts quicker than the milk chocolate would.

That’s downright purty! Very nice!

You’re right, though - betcha the white chocolate is a little softer than milk. Wouldn’t be surprised.

I think when they cool completely they’ll be okay. If not we won’t be sending cookies tomorrow night.

Nice cookies! Nice tree too.

I'm having to bite my tongue to keep from making all kinds of inappropriate comments involving the words "milk", "chocolate", and "nipples".

Just so's you know.

They’re pretty tasty. But that chocolate is very soft. If it sets, they’ll be good to go.

I thought that you baked the cookies, and put on the Hershey’s Kiss after they came out of the oven, but before they’d cooled too much, so they would sit right down in the middle of the cookie. I haven’t seen the candy cane Hershey’s Kisses. Are they minty? I’ll have to look for them at the grocery store.

Oh, those are really cute, and mighty tasty looking! I might just steal that idea for a Cookie Swap for next week! Our homeschool group is getting together when the older kids get home from college.

Very nice tree! I got the big pot painted that I want to put the 4 1/2' tree in that I bought on the Sat. after Thanksgiving. SirKit is going to build a stand to go inside the pot so that the bottom of the tree just clears the edge of the pot. That way it will stand up almost 6', but won't be too wide so it will fit just right in the corner of the family room, next to the fireplace. We'll decorate it next week when Clare and David are home.

They're predicting 6-10" of snow for us tomorrow afternoon and night. Looks like I'll need to go out first thing in the morning to get my grocery shopping done!

Second batch was better than the first. The first melted enough that the kissed looked not unlike nipples. Any suggestions?

Eat the first batch.

And that's why I'm not baking cookies this year...

... and what was wrong with that? Well nothing really, but I wouldn't want to send them to a houseful of nayberhood wimmin.

I wouldn't worry about that. Wimmin aren't wired that way. Wimmin are going to take one look at the cookies and think one of two things: 1) Cookies!! I love cookies!! or 2) Chocolate!! I love chocolate!! The nipple thing won't even cross their mind.

That's not to say their sons won't notice. But unless they're very young (in which case they'll think it's super funny) they won't say a word. They'll eat the boobie cookies first and quietly hold you as a HERO of mythical proportion for baking boobie cookies in the first place and slipping them into the cookie exchange. If strange youts start high-fiving you out of the blue... you'll know why.

Could be. The saturated fats all have different specific heats. If they're both based on cocoa butter they should come out the same. A lot of white chocolates are built on partially hydrogenated palm oil and that behaves a bit different than cocoa butter.

And I can see Santas!
