The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Thanks... I think this guy will fix him up, I'm confident of that. I feel bad for Bay, but horses are stoic creatures, and he's getting around pretty good on sore feet that would have us all curled up in a ball.

It just started snowing here...

Snow falling on beagles...

He *looks* like such a sweet little guy, doesn’t he? ;-)

Roads are starting to get slickery. I think I’ll settle for milk from the store rather than venture out again.

I'm so happy for you guys, but alas, travel is not in the forecast for this Christmas season, at least by me! All our kids will be here, beginning with Clare arriving on Friday, David on Monday, and Paul will zoom in on Christmas Eve and stay for Christmas Day.

BTW, I don't remember your lovely future bride's name. If you don't want to post it here, could you send me Freepmail? I'll be keeping y'all in my prayers on the 22nd.

Hi all! Steve finally went out into the shop and I can sneak a freep in!

We’re being covered in a slow forming layer of ice. Church was canceled for this evening.

Work is going well, getting all kinds of extra training...so I’m happy about that.

G’nad...my thoughts are with you all the time and you are in the family prayers.

Roads are starting to get slickery.

Same here. I was taking my mom on a 20-mile jaunt to see her sister. We got as far as the first major intersection, and found it blocked in all directions by police, fire, EMS, and power company trucks as someone had taken down a power pole.

Thinking to take a detour, I zipped into a parking lot, only to do a 180. That convinced both of us to creep back to her home, and forget about any further travel today.

In other news, Allstate will not total my mom's 1999 Lumina, which had the unfortunate interaction with the road sign on Thanksgiving. $3500 in sheet metal is no big deal for damages on a new car, but is an automatic "total" on a nine year old car. Except when the car has a total of 18,000 miles on it, and is absolutely pristine. If it was 180,000 miles, I'd want it totaled, too. But there is no mechanical damage, and at this rate it's good for twenty more years.

Allstate didn't want to write the car off as a total loss, and neither did I. My mom's transportation costs (less fuel) are now essentially zero, as long as the Lumina keeps running. And I can now say, "I banged up some sheet metal", rather than, "I wrecked her car".

Heh...I like that. A positive attitude is a good thing to have in life. ;-)

That is really good news on the car/insurance/repair. Getting it fixed way better than getting another one.

:)

The "official pix" (by a pro) won't be available for a coupla weeks after, but will be given to us both digitally and on paper.

Perhaps I can get someone to take some digisnaps during; but unless its Jen or Talon (or an HHD to be named later) I wouldn't expect to see them on-line until the 26th.
