Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Oops! That was an ‘End of the Show’ PRECIOUS!
Not very many days, but a lot of hours. ;-) I finished it in less than a week, but I got a bit obsessed with it. I kind of hoped to go up there this weekend to give it to the littlest niece, but it didn't happen yesterday and tomorrow's not looking good, either. Next weekend, maybe. Eek...it'll already be the 15th!
Lovely photographs! Thank you for sharing them with us. Looks like a really beautiful church! It's a shame there are so many ugly ones in this country. :-\ The Byzantine churches in particular see their artwork as something more than just art - more of a prayer in visual form. If that makes sense.
Actually, after having written that, I found this article, which says things a bit better than I just did...but they use that same phrase, more or less, so I guess I'm going OK. ;-)
I think I’m gonna make a slightly larger one in different colors (probably colors I already have) to keep. It’s just such a nice lap blanket. I ended up using it a lot for meeee today, since it’s here. Good for staying warm while reading or watching movies. ;-)
Morning Winmag - that is looking GOOOD. Commences pondering 870 mods.
Moring Bear - that is great..
Good Morning ALL. Looked at weatherundeground advisory and radar. yech. Radar shows g’nad getting fonked on. Looks like our turn will be monday and tuesday.
In good news department, went to the old neighbor’s grandson’s wedding last night. Very nice service. Grandson got married in his uniform, he’s heading south for medic school. Attended his parent’s wedding 25 years ago in the same church. Tempis fugit.
Some rather chilly looking squirrels are out there beefing up their drays.
heh - made us think on that one.
LSA is fixing to toss out a couple of ears of corn for the squirrels. Gypsy is wondering if she can get some ‘snow tread/ice studs’ for her paws. A long walk may be in her plans but it’s not in ours.
Freezing rain...
Good Morning All:
Wanted to share a HH troop support story with you all.
Sometime back, win-mag, aka the official supplier of good stuff, passed along a few knives for redistribution to appropriate recipients. A pair of the folders have already gone to the sandbox and returned along with their owners, safe and sound.
He also sent along a big folding knife, I held that one back when I heard that our neighbors grandson had enlisted.
So last night I passed along one of the big CRKT folders. I gave it to his dad to pass along to him; turns out {redacted}passed by about that time. So I was able to pass it along to him, along with our collective support for his chosen profession.
His eyes really lit up, oh-wow-how did you know-I lost my other one-and I really,really need one so hes one happy medic soldier/student.
Hes heading to {redacted} for nearly a year of training shortly. He finished boot camp and one medic course, apparently he really took to the medical training. Hes a fine young soldier.
Just wanted to let you all know, a big HH folder is good hands, along with our support and prayers for him and his comrades in arms.
Thanks for the pictures of that church... gorgeous.
I’ve always marveled that back in the day when everything was done by hand, there was time of terrific detail and architecture, and today, when power tools should ~help~, all that would be too expensive. It doesn’t make sense to me.
Hope g’nad is feeling OK.
Your new blanket is beautiful, and looks thick and soft :~)
Thanks for the troop support news. Thank you for thanking them. :~)
I’ve been a little distracted, Bay’s feet hurt and I’ve been pretty worried about him, but I’ve hopefully got a guy coming on Monday that will help him be right again.
Dang...sorry about Bay’s feet. Glad you were able to find someone to come Monday. Hopefully it’s no biggie!
I just read through the thread over on the horse forum. Some people really shouldn’t be allowed internet access. It goes to their head. :-\
You mean the guy at the farrier forum? I think he mixes badly with alcohol.
Yeah, that guy.
Even his tagline is basically an “I’m so much smarter than you, you should feel immense gratitude that I’m condescending to yell at you!”
That Cavalry Arms adapter is the only one that brings the sliding stock up to the axis of the bore, just like a M16. That has both positives and negatives.
One negative I found out after the post is that the comfy suede cheekpiece raised the sight line too much to work with the red dot sight I have in mind. I borrowed the Leupold off my AKMS, and it was no go. Removing the Eagle pouch/cheekpiece brought everything back together. I may have to investigate a sidesaddle shotshell carrier for the left side of the receiver.
Both vehicles been defrosted, made a doggie treat and kitty food run. Not much traffic out there at all. Streets wet.
Sorry to hear about Bay’s feet, hope the fella coming tomorrow will get him back to normal soon. OB & LSA
Here in Perfect Village the trucks have been by a couple of times. Cars seem to be moving around okay and we haven’t had enough freezing stuff to accumulate on the branches...that I can see.
I’ve got a turkey breast roasting in the oven and some hot spiced cider warming on the stove. 64 in thesunroom.
