Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
I really ought to do a better job of garden planning and put the peppers in front of the tomatoes. Peppers are coming along and I’m getting tomatoes (take THAT, squirrels!) Looks like the flea beetles have gotten the beans so I think I’ll pick the last crop, pull them up and dig under the dirt so I can plant some spinach.
...and I still need to get some primer for thesunroom and more chicken wire before the collards get big enough to attract bunnies.
Was just reading reviews for The Last Legion on Rotten Tomatoes - sounds like it's not exactly an epic. Seems to be geared toward 10-year olds who aren't too picky about plot or coherent narrative. But who cares. Firth and McKidd. That's all I need to know.
I’ve put this off for far too long. I need to get out in theyard to do some werk.
Well, our peppers are on the side of the house, the tomatoes are in the back yard. So far the squirrelz and the wabbits haven’t got more than a couple, they have grown more upright this year than usual. We’ve used the tall stakes and tied off the big vines to the lattice fence. So far so good.
Like Corin, yard werk II awaits..

So do we but it’s thundering.
Weird Al Yankovic will be at the Puyallup fair on Wed. Sept. 12 at 7:30.
Don’t know if y’all are interested in going, but Hair and I will be there. Saw him there a few years ago, and he really puts on a great show. Grandstand admission is free, but is on a first-come first-serve basis, so we’d want to allow enough time to get a good spot in line.
Between January and August this year, Virginia had 38,000 lightening strikes.
In a nine hour period between Thursday night and Friday, we had 38,500.
Wow. That’s a lot by any measure!
For a good hour it was like a HUGH strobe light.
I would have enjoyed watching that actually!
Well, we’re off to town. Back in a bit.
Yeah, it would have been cool to watch...from a distance.
back to werk
Wow... that’s more than one a second. One could argue that that’s almost like just one sustained electric arc with a moving contact point on the ground.
Mornin’ folkses...
Hmm... I’ll bet that is a fun show.
I’m gonna be in Vermont that week. :-\
That’s a heap of strikes, Corin. Apparently all your surge protectors worked.
“I’ve seen raining fire from the skies”...
I thirst, therefore I break.
Nayber to the right has his radio on. Nayber to the left’s painter likes to whistle along.
He’s tone deaf.
This is ~slightly~ embarassing, but exciting at the same time.
I had almost 2,100 hits on theblog yesterday, the majority Googling “Hurricane Dean.” I love the traffic, but I feel bad ‘cause these people are looking for real information and I was just makin’ fun of Howie.
I’ve been posting NHC updates, but still. It’ll be interesting to see how long this continues. They appear to be heading to the same post that I made on Thursday, even though I’ve done a couple of updates.
Okay....I’m all primed. Now for some racin’ and basebal (with a bit of cleaning thrown in.
But are they buying anything?
