I can find it online, but I have to spend a bit more, plus shipping. I could’ve saved prolly a couple of hundred if I’d been a better shopper (and hadn’t been in the Christmas show...)

Oh dear. Although, I’ve fretted over a lot of sick fish, and none of them have ever made it once they get sick. Go get another one at lunch.

I bought some antibiotic stuff to put in the water - picked it up on Saturday, when I went to the bookstore (Petco is next door). If I’d come here right then and put it in, maybe he would be OK. I didn’t. I didn’t want to drive through any more traffic. Now I’m kicking myself for that.

I know, I know, he was just a two dollar fish...but he had personality. And attitude.

I’ll wait on another fish until we can really scrub down that bowl, just in case it was something in his water that did it. Eventually, I suppose I’ll replace him.

RIP, Seamus.

*snif*

Can you give him other presents from Santa and have the “you’ll get a Wii very very soon” from you guys? Maybe even say you’ll take him shopping and make it a “just Dad and Luke” day?

Either that, or it’s time for the “You know, son, there’s something you should know about Santa” talk.

Out of curiosity, a general question. Talon and I grew up in families that didn’t really “do” Santa and we were discussing the other day whether kids really truly believe or if it’s always a nudge-nudge-wink-wink thing. Does Luke actually believe in Santa?

Sorry Rosie... RIP Seamus, indeed.

Don’t wait too long to get another one... think of all those fish sitting in little plastic cups who would love to have a home :~)

In my family, once beyond the age of reason, it was a nudge-nudge-wink-wink thing...

Corin... my only comment is that when I was seven I didn’t even know what trendy was, I didn’t know there were ‘must-have’ games, so my condolences.

He's just about to figure it out. We don't have many more years.

Problem is, he's been expecting this since ~last~ Christmas. And his cousins are getting one.

Well, like I said we’ve only got ourselves to blame. I should have taken care of this back in October. Now it’s going to cost more. Grandma is helping with the cost, but still.

I’ve found one. I’m just waiting until Mrs. is accessible by phone (she’s doing a training today), then I’ll confirm the order.

I’ve apparently managed to miss one of the lonely-hearts threads...yay.

I’m biting my tongue (er...fingers?) to keep from posting to one guy in the one I *have* stumbled on. He’s single and usually whines about being single, while at the same time saying that women are evil and manipulative b**ches who can’t be trusted and marriage isn’t worth doing because of that.

I think anyone that approaches marriage asking “am I absolutely going to get my fair share at all times?” and “how much do I get when we end this thing?” isn’t necessarily a good candidate, ya know?

On the lighter side, there is a UK-ism for such complaining: "whinging" (rhymes with hinge-ing)

I see it on UK news boards all the time: "whinging and moaning". Even Gordon Ramsay says it, "Quit your whinging!"

Jfwiw

Yeah...I know the word. ;-)

‘Tis a good word.

Considering I’m now squarely in the demographic most of those folks really dislike, I’m kind of not up to posting on those threads anymore, but it does take an effort.

I read them with some amusement, having known a few of those types in real life. I applaud you for *not* posting there. Pearls before swine comes to mind.

Speaking of NaNo (not really, but changing the subject), I think when it's all over I'm going to plant a tree. I've gotten so much inspiration, information, and daydreams from this group that I almost can't not buy one. I'm even thinking about trying to do a week next summer... feed my inner tree-hugger and all that. :)

I know just the spot... :)

The village of Cannich - with side hikes into Glen Affric.

Mmmm...Hobbit Hole outing to Scotland...

Seriously (albeit pie-in-the-sky), that could be very, very cool!

Having researched the climate in that part of the world, I assure you "very, very cool" is very, very accurate. A running gag in my NaNo is the FMC didn't bring enough warm clothes! But it does look like so much fun... Wandering around the Scottish Highlands with a shovel and a bag of saplings. Very hobbity, I daresay. And Elvish, too. They liked to plant trees.

Booking for April... Orbits has flights - round trip from BWI to Inverness - $1.2K for 2 people.

That’s not so far out of reach, really.
