The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Heh. At least I didn’t have to go through the embarrassment of calling tech support for a forgotten password.

One of mine expired while I was on vacation. I spent three minutes this morning just staring slackjawed at my computer screen trying to think of a new one, saying "uuuuuuh," the entire time.

In the “every cloud has a silver lining” department, since our show is set in 1965, Jr. has to get a crew cut today...

It’s taken me three tries to get this one piece of software to save off the correct files. Bleah.

There was a thread out in the main forum earlier this morning about a “4-hour work week” suggesting that if people worked more efficiently that you wouldn’t have to work as much. I’ve completed my to-do list for today, three hours into the work day. Everything else requires input from other people, some of whom aren’t even here, others are just plain lazy. Therefore I’m bored and I can’t eggscape because I’m supposed to occupy space for eight hours today. harummmmm...

If you can swing it, I think the trip would be good for you :~) We’d keep Cisco for ya and check on the cats.

Yeah, but I don't like adventures to *town*...

We'll see. I found a plane ticket for $200, which really isn't super bad considering the time of year. And I'd have a place to stay, so there aren't any extra costs. But I don't think I have much saved up as far as vacation hours go. Gonna check that at work today.

Ungh. Work. Off I goes.

Not Valerie said that if we ~all~ didn't do the show next year maybe we could do the Macy's Parade.

Well, dress rehearsal is tomorrow night. And truth be told, once we hit that, it's pretty easy sailing through to the end.

But...the irony is that Mrs. and I have the best parts we've ever had, and we're in a scene together (no pretzels involved). It's just been a particularly difficult year because the theme of the show changed three weeks before kickoff and everything was rewritten. In reality, whether or not I do it next year is largely a health issue. If I can't drop some weight and get this arthritis under control, I can't physically do it.

Add to this year the CD recording. That made it particularly bad. Mrs. and I have already decided to take a complete break after Christmas and not do the Easter project, whatever it is. We'll decide more at that time.

Then again I had Chinese for lunch and my fortune cookie said, "Heads, you do it. Tails, you go home."

So, there's that.

In other news...don’t laugh at me...I need to find the Nintendo Wii Bundle without having to get a second mortgage.

I told the Mrs. we needed to put this on layaway, but we never did.

We were stoopid.

It's a fun day outside the shire. Two lonely-hearts threads, one homeschooling thread, and a Patrick Buchanen thread out there today. Wheee!

Re the wii. You can always put a raincheck in a box saying, "wait for the after Christmas sale." That's what she-who-is-on-strike-for-Christmas would be inclined to do. :)

Doesn't work so much when Santa's bringing it to a seven-year-old...

My betta died over the weekend. :-( I feel like I should have been able to do something...he was a little off on Friday, and I meant to stop by over the weekend to check on him and I didn’t. Maybe it wouldn’t have made a difference, but I’m feeling really guilty about it. I really liked that little guy. I’m totally distracted today.
