You know, he’ll probably go all out!
He bought the turkey last night. I bet I come home to quite a spread.
He’ll love it. The boys will too.
This is my schedule...
Thursday the 22nd, 7am-7pm ($45.75 per hour)
Friday the 23rd 7pm-7am ($18.00 per hour)
Saturday the 24th 7pm -7am ($32.50 per hour)
Sunday the 25th 7pm-7am ($32.50 per hour)
Friday the 30th 7pm-7am ($32.50 per hour)
Heh. We’re still trying to figure out who’ll even be here for Thanksgiving. Got a coconut, though so I’ll be baking cake tomorrow.
You should be so proud of yourself! I’m sure Steve and the boys are!
Heh! Have coconut, will bake!
Cool...sounds like it should keep life interesting, no?
Is that the way it generally works in a hospital? There are nurses (and doctors too, I suppose) who are permanently assigned to the ER and what-have-you, but others fill in or assist if needed?
Well, Steve’s adjusted. Was a bit of a shock at first.
Whoaaaa...
I want thumb print cookies. With nuts.
Generally, yes. They hire a core staff...full time. Then they hire an "as needed" staff that schedules to work but can be cancelled at the last minute if they're not needed. (That's me.) Then, if all else fails, they call an agency for extra help.
A good hospital has a solid full-time staff and consistent "as needed" staff. They rarely if ever hire agency.
A bad hospital, like the one I worked at a couple of weeks ago, has only a handful of core and as needed staff and agency comprises most of the workers. It means no one wants to work for them.
Careful with that kind of info, the IRS is everywhere!
Have you worked a shift in “your” hospital yet?
Heh heh...they get their fair share. Both State and Federal, out before I see it even.
Good going, I would hazard a guess that Holidays are tough to staff, being available is a big plus.
Not yet. I went in yesterday for the pre-employment physical. Drug testing, you know. I go in again tomorrow morning to have my ppd (tb test) read and get my badge and such. Then I go to a class on Dec. 3rd that lasts all day.
After that, I think I head to “the floor”!
| What American accent do you have? Your Result: The Northeast
Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak. |

Yes, this is true. And I’m so glad it was my new agency that called me first because they pay more and they also pay time and a half. My old agency only pays a flat $18 an hour.
But I would’ve taken the first offer because a bird in the hand, you know. And right after my new agency called, my old one called...that’s how I got the shift on the 23rd. (Note the pay difference?)
Pretty incredible list, eh?
I got it in an email.
| What American accent do you have? Your Result: The Midland
"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio. |

Bah, can’t access that quiz at work.
Yup, you’ve got just enough that people assume you’re not native to Iowa but not enough to make a regional identification. I was surprised at how strong an accent your mom and sister have compared to you, actually.

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop." |

And I did call carbonated drinks "pop" until I got tired of being ridiculed for it. ;-)
