Funny... that’s what I’ve been telling Talon...

We’re back!

Convention was a success, nobody died and all 2350+ people seemed to be having a good time. It’ll take us a week to recover. Talon’s sister Empress came out and is here until three or so, we’re going to do lunch.

Y'all need to make a trip to AnimeBoston sometime. The first year they had it, in 2003, they thought they'd be lucky if they got 1000 people, thinking that at least that many were Anime fans in the New England area. They were astounded when they got over 1300 pre-registrants. They were stuned when had to stop selling tickets on Saturday morning because they'd maxed out the capacity of the place with over 4000 folks, and were being threatened by the fire marshall. ;o)

The changed venues for the third year, so were able to handle more people, and this past year they had over 9000 folks show up. Their 180 or so Artist Alley spaces sold out in less than 3 minutes from when registration opened.

Clare entered two music videos into their contest in 2005, and both of her entries made it to the finals. She wasn't able to go this past year, because the timing with her classes didn't work out. Don't know if it will next year, either.

AI is about a perfect size for me. Big enough to be lots of fun, small enough not to feel just overwhelming. This is the first year we’ve had more than 2000 people. We grow so much every year we have stopped advertising at other cons.

Thing is, our con has a staff of maybe fifty people. Other cons our size have three times the staff.

Heh...if you ever see the group picture of our Entmoot gathering, someone started all of us singing that right before the picture was taken. We were all cracking up.

There’s an antique place with a difference near home...about half the store is dedicated to farm implements and old tools, and the guy that owns the place knows all about them. It’s really interesting!

I heard on the news that some inmates at a prison in NC got transfered because the AC broke and it got up to 85 degrees inside.

That's our normal nighttime temperature at the help desk in the summer. In the winter, it sometimes drops below 80.

Looking at the trajectory of that thing, it could end up anywhere!
