Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Ya know, some of the long-time freepers have been complaining here and there that Free Republic just isn't what it used to be. Everyone is fat and lazy - just wanting to read the news and not make the news; the only real aspiration is to have the cleverest comments on a thread. The *real* activists, they say, have all been banned and banished.
I think you can get too much of a good thing: to much news, too much activism, too much fire in the belly. After a while, if you don't get fatigued, tire out and take a break, you'll snap. And that's never a pretty thing.
The election coming up is going to take some series emotional energy. I'm taking the time to build up my reserves. :)

About the only thing interesting in the “News” section is the Hsu situation.

We’ve got every seat in the General Assembly up this year. One of the ~lovely~ things about Virginia...major elections every year.
While I certainly don’t want the rats to take over, the GOP has not exactly had a stellar record.
And we get to find out this week that Marky Mark Warner is running for Senate.
I’m still in recovery from last year...
