The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Morning - sunny, cool, humid here.. sip.. All’s quiet in our shire this morning. Lots of folks were out walking around last night, heading downtown mostly.

True the Navy had the band but they also had the machine guns. It was a transitional period for the armed services, trying to figure out how best to deploy the machine gun in mobile operations rather than from a fixed position. It was realistically portrayed. The Marines likely would have had the Lee rifle. Still, I enjoyed the Krag in action. “Fix Bayonets” -

As a side note - the movie came out in 1975, LSA and I went to see it at the dollar movie house during one heat wave. The movie house was air conditioned and folks were reluctant to leave, us included. Saw a number of movies that summer. We bought a used window unit shortly there after.

We’ve decided ~three~ is the number of dogs that can live here permanently. Three it’s still just a house with dogs in it. FOUR, and it reaches a critical mass where it becomes a dog ~house~.

heh, yup, we concur.

Three animals (canine/feline) is the limit in our city, the most we have is three, consisting of one dog and two cats, still the naybers have five (5)...(and one is a St. Bernard).

Okay.....I had Cubbies on the computer (they won) and was switching between football and the race on TV until the game was over and then finished up with the race only.

OK - dogs were cute at breakfast. We decided to put Cisco in his own yard and take ours with us in the back of the truck and give the cats a break from dogs. So they’re in the Ranger with the canopy on it, and we’re inside having breakfast. We look out once and Homer is in the front seat, just sitting there, looking at us... he’s crawled through the slider! He’s done that only once before, and I don’t know how he fits!

So we chuckle about that, and look out again, and Barkley is now in the other front seat.

Just consider yourselves lucky that Homer can't drive!

Once an ad is created on Craigslist can I delete it? I posted one for free firewood this morning and already have plenty of takers, it’s going to sit there for seven days.

I don’t see a way to edit it now once it’s posted.

Speaking of Barkley....

This weekend I learned that England has its own Barkley:

Olly Barkley - rugby dude.
