The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

yuh gotta remember what the islamo$#itheads consider a sniper...

One of the themes I'm going to explore is who "we" tend to consider a terrorist. Recent events in the UK have challenged the stereotype that it's only the Arab street that we have to worry about. The villains in the story are going to use that stereotype against us with a series of feints and diversions to keep MI-5 all comfuzzled.

If it were me, I would have vented the plane and froze the buggers out. But that’s just me.

We were yelling at the TV for them to do just that, while we were watching it.

Blazing Saddles was one of my Daddy's favorite movies! He and my Mama, and my oldest brother and his wife went to the drive-in to see that movie. Daddy and George were in the front seat; Mama and DiDi were in the back. Mama said she and Didi had trouble hearing hte movie because the guys were laughing so loud!

Our daughter is in school near Naples, and she called this evening, asking if there was a hurricane nearby. I checked Felix’s location, and saw that it wasn’t a hurricane, just a big a$$ thunderstorm. It went from the Gulf on the West to Big Cypress on the East! She said there was some really funky lightning!

Yep it has been thundering and lightning all day here in FL. Felix is entering the western Carribean grew from Cat 1 to Cat 5 in less than a day. It likely will enter the Gulf in a couple of days, through the Yucatan, but direction afterwards is uncertain.

Blazing Saddles, the movie that single-handedly destroyed the "genre" western. Richard Pryor was supposed to star in it, but he was so busy writing gags for Mel Brooks that he didn't get the part. Pryor wrote most of the Mongo shtick.

No fair. I had the idea for this gag 30 years ago:

On the other hand, here's one assignment I could learn to like:
