The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Woo-hoo! I just scored some free paint from Craigslist! Just have to pick it up. Not a huge amount (several gallons), but it looks like decent stuff. The stuff that was stored outside isn’t useable anymore, and I think it was pretty lousy to begin with. I should throw it all out next time there’s one of those days at the dump.

With the new stuff I’ll be able to make that dark hallway a little less grim. So there’s that. Hopefully I can get paint to stick to it. They managed in the kitchen, so maybe! And maybe there will be enough to do something in the office...that’s the main other room that bothers me, being so dark.

Good deal! We’ve thought about painting in here this spring.

Since you mentioned the orange box store; they have pretty good tool boxes for five bucks. Orange of course but has a removable tray inside and clear plastic cover on the lid with small parts partitions.

Hopefully I can get paint to stick to it. They managed in the kitchen, so maybe!

If you don't mind the extra work and a few dollars more, do a coat of primer first. The paint will hold up better, and have a nice finish.

Hope you had a fun time with your wine group! We’re doing takee-outee Chinese tonight. We’re trying out the new restaurant in town that does Japanese and Chinese.

I might look into it. I have a tendency to leave tools scattered all over the house.

LOL - that was GREAT. “Happiness is a new squeaky toy”. That Gidget is one happy pup.

Gypsy has gone through several of them, once the squeaky is gone she loses interest. Only one has survived, luckily it’s her favorite. A two tone squeaky toy.

Indeed, ‘How do it know?’...

I remember that story from ‘The Best of Nash Buckingham’ edited by George Bird Evans. Both were fine wing shots and writers.
