Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
No, in this case I just wanted the simplicity of the 1.5x Swarovski scope, with nothing battery powered. It's fast enough, and helps out the old eyeballs. It's just the bare minimum I'd take with me, along with the bailout bag with the S&W M1917 in it, and the "three days emergency supplies" the government recommends. I only have four loaded mags with this AUG, so I plan to conserve ammo until I can resupply. Even 5.56mm gets heavy after a while.
It's strange, but my "three day list" doesn't quite match the government's. For me, Number One is a handgun and ammo. Number Two is a good sheath knife. Number Three is a rifle. Once we get past those three minor items, our lists tend to be more in sync.
You know, if it wasn't so expensive and exotic, the PS90 would be the perfect bugout weapon. I really consider it to be (conservatively) effective to 100m, but within its range it's remarkably effective, and will still outshoot an AK47. It was designed to be an effective last-ditch weapon, and fills that role very well, giving the user a high degree of confidence, based on its stellar performance. I'm not saying the other stuff doesn't work fine, but I'd take a PS90 or a P90 over a rifle, shotgun, or SMG out to 100m.
Having a 20-shot handgun in the same caliber doesn't hurt, and 500 rounds of ammo in boxes is no big deal to carry.
Right now we're setting up to play "Rock Band", then we'll have dessert. I also baked an Apple Pie, so we'll have lots of sweet stuff to eat.
Well said, concur with your basic equipment listings, take only you need but use everything that you take, was one way I had it expressed it to me. The complimentary ammo is one good point in it’s favor. There should be room in the kit bag for a good .22 rimfire handgun. Those are adaptable to lot of situations. ‘Don’t leave home without it’. :-)
Well, there’s a couple of open bottles of cabernet left over from Christmas dinner. Hate to see them go to waste.
Ahem, I believe that my two last Christmases still have everyone beat.
2005, I was in the hospital with blood poisoning and an infected broken ankle, for a month, and I was in rehab for another month, and my wife passed away while I was in rehab.
2006, I was in the hospital with blood poisoning and a non-functioning ankle, had my right leg taken off (without general anesthesia) and my 4th pacemaker (with a cardioverter) implanted, then spent over 2 months in rehab. Didn't lose any relatives, though.
This year I've been home, first time since 2004, posting on line. and looking forward to the new year. I do not recommend my previous two holidays.
That's what I call good planning!
If she is taking American Law, sounds like she's not going back home -- Brazil uses the Code Napoleon. or a variation. I think.
Sounds yummy! (Hope it was) Glad to hear you’re up and about!
Or a spare .22 like my dad had for his garden. :)
He also kept a 9 mm in the house loaded with snake shot at all times. It was the desert after all.
Mmmmm.....snakeshot....
Let's not do those again...
Good morning LCS, and I’m glad you’ve had a much better holiday than the last two. We missed you during your long absence!
Happy New Year to everyone in the HH! We may not post the volume of posts we used to, but you’re all good people and I value each and every one of ya. Take care of yourselves, be careful, and keep in touch in the coming year!
“Waste Not - Want Not”
Did Samwise Gamgee make it back to the shire?
Definitely - No repeating the previous two Christmas seasons.
Same to you, my friend! And to everyone in the Hole...Happy New Year!
I’m off work...at least for now. I start orientation to the evening shift this week. So I go in at 2:15pm and work till around 11pm. My shift of choice.
Beautiful! Now you and your better half share the same wedding anniversary as my husband and his better half!
;-)
Mornin’ Hair.
Not yet. I gave up and decided I couldn't handle the Paths of the Dead at 2:30 a.m. But I'm getting caffeined and plan to finish this morning.
