Ezzo, et.al. (GKGW) is on one end of a very interesting spectrum of child rearin' philosopies... the other end is just as crazy. Sanity is somewhere in the middle.
But what the heck do I know. I'm not qualified to have an opinion - thus say the Cultists.
Bah! Been sleeping with my blankie for other 30 years and have yet to die suddenly.
If you value your life... don’t say anything like that around the aforementioned Cultists. They have no sense of humor.
You should just tell the without missing a beat, “Oh, that is why I only give them to people I hate.”
Heh heh heh... you’re gonna be the troublesome one in the childbirth classes... I can see it now. :P
Me? She is the one that suggested putting hooks on the wall so we can just hang them up when they get in the way.
Yeah, I knew a couple people doing that GKGW crap. Utter garbage. It really would only “work” for bottle fed babies anyway since bottle feeding can be less often than breatfed.
Did I tell you my old boss is back at work again now? The old toss the two month old in daycare plan.
Well I am sure her career is very fulfilling.
Heh...I guess I’m lucky that my sisters-in-law appear to be learning their baby care abilities from their mothers rather than current culture...last time I was up at local brother’s, they were using the blankie I made for oldest niece for when the little one was playing on the floor, and also when we took a car trip over to her sister’s.
Hopefully it wasn’t *entirely* fer my benefit, but I don’t think so...
Er...well...you know what i meant.
Must...find...caffeine...
Why yes, yes, they do. We've discovered them in 1987 when we were in New Zealand and one of the hotels used them on the beds. They are absolutely wonderful, and even better, Snugfleece are made in America using American wool!!
So there are a couple young folks who could use any spare prayers you folks have this Christmas.
First is the two year old foster kid my parents have had since Thanksgiving. We thought she was going back to her mom earlier this month but the mom failed a drug test and showed up at her hearing high... so she’s with my folks for probably six months. I’m sure that she misses her mom although apparently she’s having fun with my folks.
The other one is my 18 year old cousin. Remember the lesbian cousin who I was so pleased to have at my wedding? This is her little brother. He was abandoned by his parents when he was a young teenager. He’s been in foster care since. Don’t let me get started on the stupid, evil social workers who told him that they’d talked to my parents and we wouldn’t take him. When my dad was showing up at the local police and stuff trying to find where the cousin was... oh well. Anyway he’s gotten back in touch and will be joining us for Christmas Eve and Christmas. So he probably could use some prayers that he knows he’s loved and part of a family and such.
*snicker*
Wait 'til they show him the films...
We went through one GKGW class when Jr. was 6. Drove us nutz. Wouldn’t even consider it when Luke came along. He would have died (literally) from that feeding schedule.
GKGW made no room for exceptions, which annoyed me. But I finally wrote him off when he said “my daughters have ~never~ lied to me.”
I always put ours on their sides when they were very small and didn't move around a lot. I put a small pillow in front, and one in back to keep them from rolling over. This way they couldn't choke if they spit up. I never put them to sleep on their backs. When they started rolling over on their own, I'd lay them down to sleep on their stomachs, but you never knew where they'd be the next morning.
Ah yes, scheduling little babies. Don't work. You can schedule Mama and Daddy, but the baby's gonna do things in his own time. When Paul was about 9 months old, I knew a young mother who's son was close in age to Paul, and she was saying her son was already potty trained! Now this kid couldn't even WALK yet! When she described how it worked, I commented that the baby wasn't potty trained, everyone else around him was!
Maybe I'm just too laid back, but I figured the kids would learn skills like walking, talking, and potty training, in their own time, and my pushing it will only frustrate them and me. It seemed to work, and for the most part, they're pretty well adjusted. Well, at least as far as any children of mine CAN be. ;o)
Would you please FReepmail me their names?
James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
