The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Morning Hair - absolutely beautiful decorations. The picture of Barkley is Hallmark Card material.

Listening to The Trans-Siberian Orchestra “Christmas Eve and Other Stories”.

The Christmas Tree is back lit by the sun through the window.

Snow here is great for Gypsy to finally get some traction. She does NOT like the ice.

Your neighborhood cats a lot more adventuresome than ours are.

The bunny is still hanging around. Since the hosta is looking kinda sad now, we think he’s moved under the front porch. The little birds have taken up their winter quarters in the yew bushes.

It’s a first. I don’t think I’ve even managed a triple, yet.

Well, we would have to confirm that with our resident archivist but the quad aught preciouses are darn hard to come by.

The one about slipping in, snapping pictures, and scampering off with barely a howdy-do? Yep, got it.

:)

Be glad to see you anyways :) We’re going to have food, so if you were going to stop and eat anyway....

At least I know which cat has been tripping the nayber’s security lights!

It’s a pretty black cat with longer fur than Miss Kitty.

I guess I’ll have to put out some bird seed for the birds but I’m afraid the squirrelz will get most of it. The only time I’ve seen bunnies lately is after dark....they sure show up against ice and snow in the moonlight.

I'm watching Dark Victory. Ronald Reagan has a bit part as a drunk playboy.And Humphrey Bogart is an Irish horse trainer....go figure.

Sounds interesting - don’t know as I’ve seen that one. Bogie with a brogue? hmmm.

Ha! Yeah, I remember that! It’s a good movie, albeit one that requires a lot of tissues. *snif*

Bogie made a truly lousy Irishman.

Well...he doesn’t have anything resembling a brogue. They had to tell us that he’s Irish.

...and they have Betty Davis planting daffodils in the spring. Geesh!

She’s about to die of that Mysterious Movie Disease.

I think he was trying. But it was more embarrassing than authentic. ;-)

*snif*

MMD was a real killer back in the day, wasn’t it? Doesn’t seem to strike anymore, for the most part.

I guess George Brent used Betty Davis’ money to find a cure for MMD. :)

Okay first they had her planting jonquils, now it’s hyacinths. I didn’t know there was a hyacinth called “jonquil.” Anyway, you don’t plant either in the spring.

*Sniff*

She’s dead and I don’t think she’s going to get better. Maybe now I should put in “All About Eve.”

Maybe bein’ blind meant she didn’t know what season it was. Or something. Blame it on MMD...
