...Frog, Goose looks/sounds like a seasoned trail horse.

Hey, don't let his achievements fool you, he's still a green 2yr old. What BladeRider didn't tell you is that he managed to dump me shortly after that picture coming up out of the creek. There were some loose horses at the top of the hill that weren't supposed to be there and when we rounded a bend in the trail one of them went shooting across in front of him like a bat outta hell. It scared him so bad that he did a 180 and I didn't, so I landed on my back and right shoulder and it's kinda messed my shoulder up. It's not broken or anything, just bruised, according to the bone doctor who took my cast off yesterday, but it sure makes lifting that arm a painful ordeal.

That's one bad thing about riding a young, thin-bodied horse. They can get out from under you before you know what's happening. But I don't blame him for it. I think that would've spooked most any horse. And he did come back to me after he ran about 50 feet. You could tell the poor little booger was thinking "What the heck was THAT?!". And I know I jerked his jaw pretty bad before I fell because I got a really bad rope burn across my left fingers from those nylon reins. He did seem a little high-headed and sensitive in the mouth after that so I'm sure it was sore. Lord knows I was. But he wasn't looking for boogers around every corner after that like I would have expected him to, so he did pretty good, all things considered. I just don't bounce as well as I used to! ;o)

Good thing you still had that cast on. Did he lecture you at all about being a little careful till you’re healed, or is that a pointless exercise? :~)

Aw, jeez, so sorry about your shoulder.

Sounds like he had a good reason to spin, but spins are hard to stick with.

I didn't want to spoil your story ;-) I agree though he did recover VERY well afterwards and was not looking for those horses to reappear again at all.
