No, it’s not terribly busy. It’s a nice wide two lane, but sometimes it’s as much as ten minutes or so between cars, especially on weekends. I feel pretty comfortable riding along that road most of the time. And it’s not terribly curvy and there’s good visibility usually for a hundred yards or so between any curves. I’m just really thankful.
Well that’s good about the road. Doesn’t make you feel any better about the gate being left open, but at least no harm was done.
Maybe you can get your neighbor to let you put a chain and lock on that gate. I’ve always been nervous about having an unlocked gate facing a road because of the theft issue, or kids out causing mischief, but in your case it sounds like it was just plain old forgetfulness.
Having a cold at any time is no fun, but especially not in the springtime with all the pollen in the air to add insult to injury. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
