That is wild. I slept through 4/3/74 tornadoes and 13 people in my town were killed. Some in my class. The one 2/6/08 was the other side of my town and killed my sister-in-law, her husband and their 19 yo son. Terrible. I have been divorced from her brother for 10 years, but we hung out and double dated since we were in high school. We are thinking seriously of installing one of those fiberglass balls underground.
You can write the University of Oklahoma, they have a department that deals in depth with tornado shelters. They were very helpful! They told us that you can't put a shelter in a crawlspace (it's the worst kind of house to have in a tornado). The only thing you can do is dig out one of those fiberglass shelters in the yard -- but the problem we have here is shelving rock and the ground water is right on the surface. The ball would wind up floating up out of the ground!
I’m so sorry to hear that. What a tragedy.
That’s terrible. With that many close calls I think I would put one in too.
