The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Your pictures and trails are wonderful. It LOOKS cool even if it’s not.

Oh it is cool - er. It's at least 20 degrees cooler in the woods than it is in the clear cuts. After riding across a cleared area, we always say ooooh ahhhhh when we finally get back under the trees.

WE GOT RAIN!
It thundered and lots of lightening and we thought it was going around us once again. Then we heard it and I just stood outside and let the wind blow it on me under the porch. It was wonderful. It started after 9pm and was still raining at 10:30 when we went to bed. Hal checked the gauge and it said 1 inch and 1 tenth. YEA!

We are supposed to get a 101 degree day today and then hopefully more rain Wed., Thurs. and back down to the low 90’s. We’ll see.

Hal is better. Not grunting, but I noticed him holding his arm close to his chest this morning. He won’t go get it checked unless it lasts for months.

Aw geeze... Hal sounds like me. I hope he’s not broken like Frog.

But the rain is good news! Glad to hear it. That ought to help with the crunchy grass, especially if you get some more in the days to come.

We rode again last night. Just 8 of us, but cool and without bugs. Towards the end of the ride we were racing to beat a storm. It was lightening up ahead and showing us the way like floodlights. Talk about an adrenalin rush! We blew into Cook's barn just ahead of the thundering downpour. The horses were so grateful to be out of the rain they stood stock still looking out, while the guys got taxied by Cook up to the house where we parked the trailers. We were back by 9:PM and the rain continued during the night. We got 1.7 more inches for a two day total of 2.25. It has to by my imagination, but I promise the pasture already looks greener. Maybe it's just that the dust has been washed off.

That’s great about the rain though. I don’t think we got that much, but any little bit helps. You’re right about the pastures greening up fast though. They seem to jump up over night when it rains after a long dry spell. I made sure I had the muzzles back on Bob and Hope last night. I sure don’t want anybody having foot problems from eating too much!

I sold the bike!!!!

And found out this morning, that the mechanical problem with the vet is a simple fix, and have someone coming to look at it Thurs.

I just noticed though, I think that Tropical Storm/Hurricane is about to hit CindyDawg head on...

I’m glad you guys are getting the rain you need, without it coming in the form of bad storms. It’s feast or famine with you guys sometimes.

Thanks for thinking about me. We are getting a lot of water that I don’t know what we are going to do with, but the storm has jogged north so we aren’t taking a direct hit.
