Yeah, I really didn’t want somebody else riding him back, but I didn’t have much choice. I’m assuming he did fine though because he was back in camp not too long after I made it back to the truck. He seemed none too worse for wear yesterday evening when I went to feed. I had let my husband feed for me Saturday night and my BIL fed on Sunday morning so that was the first time I’d seen him since I turned him out when I got home. He’s got 2 skinned knees, a skinned shoulder, a skinned forehead and a skinned muzzle, so he plowed up the dirt pretty good. Elizabeth said we looked like we were sliding into home plate so I don’t know how I’m not any more skinned than I am. My left knee is skinned, but otherwise I’m just bruised.
And are there pictures? :~)
I hope Bob heals up fine. Sounds like it was quite a fall.
So sorry to hear about your “wreck”. I can relate to that. I sure hope nothing is broken and that Bob is ok.

We rode back down the hill and let the horses drink in the creek. Dalton, on a huge at least 16 hand black horse walked out into the creek and went to his belly and then kept going. We saw the horse down and no Dalton. The horse was struggling to get up and still no Dalton. Bullit finally got out and came over towards me. Dalton was "floating" face down in the creek where Bullit had been. SCARY!!! The guys got him out & I caught Bullit. He swallowed water & got stepped on everywhere till he could get up, but he got back on after a few minutes and continued the ride.

We got out in an open field on the way back to the trailers and Soldier thought he was being left behind and started cantering. Hal let him and the next thing he knew he bounced off all 4 feet in mid-canter and went up, bounced again and twisted and lost Hal in mid-air, bounced 3 more times, kicking Hal on the shin, and took of RUNNING. He passed all of us at a dead run and someone up ahead caught him and ponied him back to Hal, who was coming up to get him. His shoulder and back were hurting and he couldn't finish the ride after lunch. Shirley, Donnie, Grady, Ken, 2 teenagers, and Dalton all left after lunch, so Elizabeth and I were the 2 Survivors. Too bad there was no Million dollar prize, 'cause I managed to PROD Faith back to camp a few steps ahead of Hope, neither of whom are fond of leading the pack. It was a long slow hot, ride down that big hill (some of whom got to ride down surrounded by hunky guys in a Ranger).

I forgot to tell you that Dalton, the man under the horse in the creek, is somewhere between 75 & 80 years old!
Sound like it was really a horsey weekend:)!!
Liked all the pictures.
Frog sorry to hear about your fall, and hoping everyone recovers quickly.
I just got back from going to the zoo with the kids. I’m beat. It’s soo hot. The dog days of summer are here. 100 today. But we got thru the zoo almost before it really got too hot. The animals all looked too hot to have people gawking at them. The seals looked the most comfortable swimming in their pool. A few of the bears were out in their pools too. The big cats were just laying in the shade. I’d hate to be wearing a fur coat today.
Now I’m going home to collapse on the couch. See you all tomorrow.
Wow... it sounds like this ride had a lot of casualties!
Enjoy the pictures though!
I’m with you... that’s too hot!
And in other news, I decided to go on to the doctor after I got to work because the ankle just really started to swell. So I went to the Bone and Joint clinic to see if they could work me in, but they were booked and said that if I really need to see somebody before my appointment tomorrow that I should just go to the ER. I didn't know if I really did or not, but I'd already taken off work so I just went on and went. They x-rayed it and from the looks of it, the lower left head of my fibula is broken clean through, kind of at an angle. So so much for my theory that if you can bear weight on it that it's not broken. :-/ Anyways, they put a temporary cast on it, kind of like the one they put on my thumb, and told me to stay off of it until I see the bone doctor tomorrow. So I headed home, but I did go by the barn and feed first though. It was nearly 100* ambient temperature with a heat index of 110 and the horses have no shade until late afternoon so I thought I'd go ahead and feed them and leave the barn open so they could stand in the isle-way and have some shade. But I'm home now and I guess I'll stay here until my appointment tomorrow afternoon at 3. I'm going to see if I can talk him into just putting a boot on it instead of a hard cast. That way I can at least take it off when I shower and not have to wrap it up like nuclear waste to keep it from getting wet. Just D@MN!
Good grief! Oh man... you must have taken a major hit! And you’re also one tough chick to have walked around on it, I think.
How’s Bob?
It just P!$$E$ me off that I'm going to be layed off from riding for probably 6wks though. But maybe by then it'll be a little cooler. {as if that's any consolation at all. :-p
Heres hoping and praying for a speedy recovery.
Thanks MT! It sure is aggravating.I don’t take to being layed up very well.
I’m gonna try to be good and go prop my foot up for a little while. I’ll talk to y’all a little later...
It’s a bummer but you’d better follow whatever instructions you’re given. You know... this has been the ‘summer of not riding much’ for a lot of us, for whatever reason.
That was sweet of y’all to let those kids ride. What a thrill for them!
Your pictures and trails are wonderful. It LOOKS cool even if it’s not. That does sound almost like a 4 beat gait. Lots smoother than a trot.
It’s gonna be a 101 day here again tomorrow. Sunday was 103. Bad about Frog, but it is the hotest, worse time to ride.
Where are the pictures of the Rangers? :)
Oh my, I’m sure sorry about your foot.
Elizabeth & I thought of that after it was over and everyone was back to the trucks. We were just concentrating on the “incidents” and getting the injured taken care of the thoughts of the camera didn’t occur to us until it was too late. She did have a smile on her face when she and the guys went by us. Seriously, though, I don’t know many people that could break their leg and not cry or whine or anything.
