This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

I took some video’s today of the horses. The one’s I took of Slick and Gang are too far away so you can’t see much. Except the one where they all got in my face to get petted. However, I tried to set up an account with YouTube so I could post them and I cannot get an email back from them - sigh. Got pictures of CJ with an english saddle on her but I don’t have the energy to figure out whatever the site is that I can post pictures to here from since I guess Snapfish doesn’t allow it anymore.
Also made pineapple salsa today. That’s not going to take over the world any time soon :)
If I get a bunch of peaches I do that. I have six jars - very pretty jars - of pineapple salsa but I admit I’m not enamoured with the taste. Probably should have made pineapple jam but that didn’t sound great either.
I’ll give photobucket a try tomorrow. Is it possible to upload videos there also?
Yes, you can also upload video. I’ve had pineapple salsa from trader joe’s, and it was okay... but an interesting taste.

Somehow, seem like pineapple salsa should be on eggs or baked ham :)

Was it hot out today?
It was warm here... cooled down to 80 something now. We didn’t ride, but we got some important pressing stuff done. we went on our bi-annual dump run... all our cans were full and we needed to go.
Then we picked the paddock, which was bad... I’ve not been good about it this year. And mowed all the weeds in it.
And rested some the rest of the day!
Tomorrow we go to the beach for brother’s birthday. :~)
Hope you have a great time at the beach. Yeh - it was HOT here today. This year we’ve had two temperatures, too cold and too hot :)
I’m going to try to take a better video tomorrow and also load one of CJ that my niece took today. It just takes so blasted long to upload them to the site. I guess eventually I will have to catch up with the rest of the world and leave dial up behind.
Yup, there’s a video at the end of that link! I really do love your horses. I also love your mountains. When I was at the Las Vegas airport, I sat and looked at them for a long time. Very pretty. Heck, I was so happy to travel that everything was “Oh Wow!”
Yeah, we certified through Advanced level back in the early 90's but we just dive when we're on vacation so I wouldn't really classify us as advanced. We always go with a group with a dive master. I just feel safer that way, but one trip we went to Bonaire and that's the only place we've ever been where there was great wall diving less that 100 yards off the beach. Our package included a small truck and you could just go throw a couple of tanks in the back and go dive anywhere. All the best dive sites were marked with painted rocks along the road. It was cool. Our last dive trip was when we were on a cruise.
A 5mm wetsuit might be a bit thin for him in the Pacific since it looks like he's a fairly slim guy. I'm sure they have rental suits at the dive shop though so they could set you both up in something a little more insulating. There's nothing more miserable than being cold on a dive. You just can't enjoy the scenery like you should.

Congrats on the new baby Mommadoo! You’re gonna have SO much fun playing with it. I’ve only seen one of my foals born and he took about 2 hours to get up and nurse. The rest of them foaled while I was at work and were nursing by the time I got home. I’m hoping yours is all healthy and happy and running around like crazy by now. I’ll look forward to the pics!

Well, at least if you didn’t get to ride you did get something constructive done. Have fun at the beach today and wish Ramius Happy Birthday for me.
We did go on a ride yesterday, down at the place where the Best of America ride was held. BladeRider and Shirley and I met HaveFaith and her brother and niece down there. Her brother is pretty new to riding but her niece had ridden a fair amount. They both did real well and seemed to really enjoy it. They were from South Alabama so all the hills and hollers were a real treat for them.
The owners were on vacation but they had one of their trail guides and his wife to meet us since they’ve put in a lot of new trails down there. They were an older couple and were really nice. We really enjoyed it, even though it got up to 97*. We were in the woods most of the time so it really didn’t seem that hot. I’ll post a few pics later.
