This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
So how’ve the job interviews been going? Got any good vibes about any of them?
Beaker, hope the job works out.
I think Harley is going to be fine. So far no signs of anything going on with this foot. I’d think it would have showed up by now if there was going to be a problem??
I haven’t rode since Mon. but will tomorrow, and will certainly try to finally get on Rocky.
Becky
Well, we’ll keep our fingers crossed for the 2nd job then. Dontcha have another one too? I thought I remembered that you had 3 interviews on 3 consecutive days.
Yeah, I would think that if the puncture was going to get an abcess it would have at least started to get a little tender by now. I think you got a lucky break this time. Good luck on riding Rock. You’ll have to take some pictures of him all saddled up. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him with a saddle on. I’ll bet he looks good!
Thanks Frog, I will get some pictures. I’m hoping I can get Jenny to come up and get on him first, but time is ticking, and she is so busy, looks like I’m going to have to do it. I mostly wanted Jenny to ride him so I could get some good pictures and videos of him.
Becky
Yup I have another one tomorrow. This one is local.
Well that would be great to have a job that you didn’t have to commute so far. Hopefully it’ll be an interesting job and the pay and benefits will work out as well.
Hi there! Good news on Harley...
Things are going good with Bay’s treatment. Just posted an update here: http://forum.horse.com/fb.asp?m=436695
You need to get your internet at home fixed!
Yeah, I know, Macks working on it.
I missed the excitment on the hoof care forum. I’m a bit suprised by Patty’s opus. Not that she is leaving but that whe would make a thread announcing she was leaving.
Becky
Yeah - it’s very drama queen like and it surprised me too. I thought she engaged in that debate for the sport of it... I didn’t think she’d feel driven out, I thought on balance she was probably winning.
Go figure!
I hate that she’s leaving, but it didn’t really surprise me that she wrote an opus. People over there tend to do things like that. I guess we’ll have to go to horseshoes.com to talk to her if we need her now. I just hate to do that because of all the other jack@$$es over there.
I had the dead tree in the pasture cut down yesterday. It was a three trunk maple, so it needed an expert to do it safely, being so close to the barn. The guy's wife came with him and they both worked their butts off on a very hot and humid day. Two trucks are down in this shot. Now, I will rent a log spliter and have plenty of fire wood for winter.
Ah - big project!
I’m thinking of putting a sign out “free firewood - You cut” and see if someone wants to come and cut up the big log that’s down out here.
I had to go to TSC and buy a new gate. The wood one was getting pretty rickety. We had opened it real wide for the tree man to get in the pasture. When he left, Alison pushed on the gate to close it and it fell off the hinges right on my foot! Ouch! All I could think of, was there goes my trail riding and camping this weekend. It is sore, but not broken.
We are going to a place about an hour and half from here. They also have ATV trails near by, so my SIL will have something to do. A group of friends are suppose to come too with their 4-wheelers. The weather is suppose to be nice, I hope they are right. I have been out all day shopping for food.
The girl who bought Bodie emailed me and said she got bucked off. She blames herself, because she said she had taken her helmet off to scratch her head and that might have spooked him. I had told them before that he had bucked Tammy off, but we thought it was bees.
Farrier is coming for Dakota's horse. We are not due until next week, but I might see if he has time to reset Jody. She is getting long and with the way she trips, it would be better to have her done.
I wouldn't think so. It typically gums up the chimney.
And OUCH! about the foot. I'll bet you really had to bite your tongue to keep from cussing in front of Alison. I'm glad it didn't get broken.
Your camping trip sounds like a blast. I hope the weather is nice for you.
Bummer about Bodie bucking the new owner off. Sounds like he's acquiring a nasty little habit. Hopefully she got right back on him and rode the hound out of him or he's liable to start doing it more and more if he thinks he can get out of being ridden or doing something by bucking. But at least that ain't your problem anymore, and aren't you glad!
If Jody trips a lot, she might do well in NB shoes on the front because a lot of the time that's caused by long toes. My farrier has told me of several horses that he's helped in that way by putting the horse in NB shoes. They help horses that have interference problems too.
I can attest to that! Jake was a BAD stumbler and the NB shoes helped him tremendously. He still stumbles some but that is mostly cause he day dreams.
Oh dear... sorry about your toes!
I think the tree that’s down is actually an old maple, but you can burn firs and alders that are also common. We don’t have pines... they’re often more sappy, so don’t make great firewood, they tend to gunk up chimneys.
Sorry about your foot. I hope you still get to go camping.
I’ll have internet back at home next Tues. DSL too:)
I’ve been mowing and weed eating all day. Probably start again on the pasture this evening.
Becky
Well good! But it’ll be a long weekend without you to talk to! I’m doing laundry, dishes and domestics today, in addition to Bay’s feet... again.
