Yes, it's the front pasture ponds. The ones the geese were on is a small shallower one right next to the big one.
The weather weenies around here were foaming at the mouth about all the tornados out your way so I’m glad to hear that you didn’t get blown away. We got some much-needed rain yesterday evening and today, but thankfully no storms.
I was glad to hear about the guy who came to look at Harley too. I hope he turns out to be the right kind of owner for him and decided to take him. I’m impressed with your clean-up efforts too. Man, that’s a big-@$$ dumpster! ;o)
Great pictures MT! The one of your SIL is hilarious. I’ll bet he’s a hoot. Looks like Ziggy did great. She sure is pretty.
We had a good ride on Saturday too. We went to the same place we went to the weekend before, but I rode a different horse and we rode different trails, so it was just like going someplace different. It wasn’t an organized ride, but there were a lot of people camping there too. I’m with you, I think people are camping closer to home to save fuel. It’s really going to hurt when it gets up above $5 a gallon in a month or so, which they’re already saying it’s going to do. At least you’re retired now and don’t HAVE to drive as much any more.
Maybe a horse rescue or something? I can't remember where you are but some places(like Houston, TX)have good rescue or ASPCA facilities. There maybe someone willing to geld him and just put him out to pasture.
This trip to KY is going to be pretty costly with gas. Amy's boyfriend is driving his Dad's Ford F350 deisel flatbed, I sure hope he has saved up for the fuel!!! Amy was smart when she told him a few months ago that she would pay for stall rental and food if he paid for gas.
I just had way to much to do this weekend to get ready for our trip to be able to go riding with Frog and HaveFaith. I got the floor done in the trailer, I pulled up the old carpet and put down linoleum in the living quarters on Saturday. Sunday I did laundry and packed stuff into the trailer and cleaned the tack area and cleaned my garage, even got in time to groom a terrier. Monday I mowed the front yard, side yard, small pasture and half of the big pasture, no more yellow flowers (until next weekend). We bought an automatic waterer for the water trough and I had to level out the ground so it would work. On one end I had to dig out 4” deep by 69” long then decrease it as the slope decreased. Needless to say I am plum wore out today. I was so tired yesterday I forgot to eat all day and went to bed at 9:00 but I guess cause I was so tired I could not sleep. Did not fall asleep until 12:30am then had to get up (or should I say my alarm went off) at 5:30.
I would have been tempted to put a concrete block under the low end. That’s alot of work.

We tried that but it made the water trough bow in the middle and the automatic waterer would not work cause it started flowing over the middle edges before it reached the cutoff float. They had another type that had a floating ball on it, but knowing my pesky crew they would have had it out and in the back pasture in no time. This one is screwed to the side of the trough.
And a big ol' snapping turtle that was crawling along the creekbed in front of us. His shell was at least a foot long and his tail was another foot. Of course when he saw me come up behind him he crawled up under the bank and started digging. This is all I got of him...
And here's links to two video clips I took of a cool new section of trail to a cliff overhang called D&G's Outlaw Hideout...
What gorgeous shady places! Good to see you guys! Snapping turtles and everything!
We never did go ride this weekend... too many other things going on.
Those are great pictures again - however, I have a question. Seems when I was in Alabama every body of water had snakes along with snapping turtles. Don’t you all worry about snakes?
It has rained here for SIX days now! And today we had hail.
Riding down the river in the video is sure cool! Gotta watch your head on some of those overhangs!
Boy the desert is going to be in bloom soon!
The desert is going to have moss soon :)
Not really. I guess they're just such a fact of life that you just ignore them. Mostly if you don't bother them they won't bother you.
I don't know if you could see the video clips or not, but it you turn your sound way up on the 2nd one, you can hear Marilyn, the woman with the long blonde hair, say as she's exploring the cracks and crevasses of the cliff overhang, "I'll bet there's a big ol' snake in there", and she was saying this AS SHE WAS POKING AROUND IN THE CRACKS! I just had to ask her "and what would you do if there WAS?!". It was one of those kind of surreal, potential Darwin Award type moments where somebody says, "Hey y'all, watch this"! But thankfully she didn't win her award. I just about told her she was, as we say in the South, "Eat up with the Dumb-Ass", but I didn't. ;o)
LOL with Marilyn. I just remember taking my son fishing and watching trees, paths and banks for snakes - I always saw them, just didn’t want to step on them or run into the ones hanging out of the trees.
I had a powerful fear of cottonmouths. I never worry about snakes here but we have rattlesnakes and they usually warn you and go away given half a chance.
Good morning.
I’ve been very busy around here, and wanted to apologize that I probably haven’t responded properly to all the posts sent to me. I have looked at all the pictures, but not read everything throughly.
cj: Your new horse looks great, so glad you got one:)
Frog, great trail pictures:)
NIght before last we got a lot of rain here, and the water went over our little bridge again. I’m thinking this is happening because of all the debris from the ice storm has the creek clogged in places. The patch work they did on the bridge deteriorated again. It is still safe to go over, but is now so rough on top because big hunks of whatever they topped it with are left. I really don’t think the Vet can clear it, and am glad Charlie took it to his house before this happened. The sides of the bridge held up “some”, but looks like crumbling has started again.
Now we are trying to decide what to do with the Vet. At Charlie’s it will be hard to keep it clean because of his driveway, but I’m not sure I feel good about leaving it in the parking lot at the building. Anyway just another small problem, but small problems can really be a stressor:)
We are suppose to have scattered rain today, but after that a drying out period, so they say:), with the heat and humidity we are having, I wouldn’t be surprised that storms kick up.
Charlie started working on the floor plan for my aparatment, so we can figure what materials we will need. When it’s done, I’ll post a picture of it:).
The man that looked at Harley decided to pass on him. He liked him, but wants to look for something less expensive...after all he wants “just” a trail horse:\.

I noticed you had an Arabian and Appaloosa in the crowd in the video. How did that work out with the gaited horses?
We tend to not ride with other people for two reasons, the gaited horses and with Alison riding with us on the little pony. She meet a little 7 yo girl at camp and those two had a blast. Her spotted pony is in the background of the pic of Jody and me. The camp has a little lope (Pink Poke dot Trail) around the camp for the kids and those two probably rode it 10 times!
