Sounds like a plan to me. You just need to find somebody, not necessarily a vet, in Becky’s area that does collections and AI. There’s several farms around here who have facilities to do that, so there’s bound to be somebody out there, what with all the high-dollar QHs in the area. Cyn ain’t getting any younger.
Oh, and I’ve meant to change my cast-countdown all day today.
Do you think I MIGHT be getting a little antsy?
Heh... You’re a lot of help! You’re supposed to tell me I don’t really ~need~ to do any of this!
Honey and I would like the experience of breeding and raising one, you know... a child substitute ;~) but we’d wish we were already in our bigger place when we did, ideally!
But I keep thinking that if you’re going to have a successor to Bay, all ready to go by the time that he goes into retirement, that you need to get on the ball. I know you’d like to have your ultimate place in order before then, but if you’re like me, who the hell knows when that’ll be. My pigs have been sitting on their asses instead of flying for nearly 20 years! ;o)
Good points :~)
Hey, I just noticed you all’s discussion:)
IMO:), once the mares got use to him being around the mares would all calm down, and it would b e routine. With the fencing you have, I’d be really shocked if you would have any problems other then some squealing, maybe for a while some fence charging.
Becky
I do believe I’d never find an easier stallion to fence in than yours, but you know I’d have a wall of wire there, maybe two ;~)
Phooey! ... We’re actually just too broke to think about it seriously but I do keep coming back to thinking about it anyway.
Well, Kristy has come and gone and taken Harley with her. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to a new home. Good info to pass on to a new owner. She has a pen built with the panels she took. If he seems antsy she will keep him in there till he calms down. He won’t be turned out on the whole 40 acres, but will be kept in large area where she keeps her horses when she is riding them. It will probably seem like heaven to him:)
Becky
I’m sure he’ll do fine... he’s even fairly familiar with all their horses already isn’t he?
Charlie and Kristy only have one horse of their own, and Kristy has been hauling them together in the trailer when she has gotten to ride Harley. They will be pastured together. Jenny’s horses (2) run the whole 40 acres usually, so will be able to come up to the fence. But it’s hot wire fence so there won’t be any problems there.
Becky
Good morning.
I saw this morning where they are now predicting possible temps of 100 for you. Is it warming up there already yet?
We are heading for the high 70’s here and 90’s by Mon. Hard to believe you are going to top us:)
Becky
I don't know how we'd get through this without them! Read toward the bottom of this: Heat wave triggers concerns about rivers, lakes | Top Stories | KING5.com | News for Seattle, Washington
Well, you know, there are always idiots, but then, they are going to do stupid stuff even with repeated warnings.
Just like here when we had all the flash flooding. I sat and watched several cars drive thru the flooding creek that even in a truck I was going to go thru, even after seeing them make it. Part of me couldn’t believe they were trying, but part of me wasn’t really surprised.
I’d imagine there are going to be some deaths or near deaths from people doing exactly what this article is saying not to do.
Becky
You’re probably right. That’s why they try to warn everyone. But the people who need the warnings aren’t watching the news.
But jeepers, they’re acting like we’ve never seen heat like this, and we have, just never this early.
It might be a perfect storm, this spring, for some of those really big 500 year floods, if there is a really sudden spring thaw. They’ve got record snowpack in the mountains.
We’ll see if it gets there! If it does, I’ll be sweltering! Remember, we don’t have air conditioning up here. It’s the reason I love all these trees, even if they scare me in winter.
For your sake I hope they’re wrong. Anything above 80* without AC is miserable. Break out the fans!
I grabbed the box fan out of the spare room and have it at the ready!
But I told ecurbh I might call him and say “bring... more... box... fans... I’m..... wilting... “ ;~)
I'm MELLLLTIIIING!!!
We hooked up the swamp cooler Wednesday - discovered last night that the connection at the water heater is leaking badly. The laundry room floor is soaked, swamp cooler disconnected and Bob is trying to find a plumber as we speak. If he doesn’t find one that will come today, we’ll just have to reconnect it and hope enough tape will plug the leak until the heat wave breaks. Interesting year - it just froze (hard freeze) Monday night :)
I bought tomatoes for the third time but they are sitting in the garage right now until I see what the weather is going to do.
Hope you all have a great day.
