This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well, you told me to post so you can't be mad if there are some of you on there that you prefered NOT posted ;-)
Wow, those are cool pics Cindy! If you hadn’t told me it was sand I would’ve sworn you went to the North Pole or something...except for the short sleeves. ;o)
Very cool pictures and places! As usual! Magnificent!
LOL!! That next to last one looke like I’m waiting for Scotty (or ET) to beam me up.
Well, that's true, I can't complain, but time about is fair play, so neither can you...
I think you were squealing about how cold that water was in this one. ;o)
It was a SUPER cool place. The upper waterfall shown in the 10th picture shot out of a crack in the cliff that was 40 or 50 feet high, then fell into a pool that never filled up. It just went down into the rock and came back out of a small cave, shown in the 9th picture, which was about 50 yards downstream.
There were a TON of hikers there of all descriptions, both young and old, along with kids and dogs. The website estimates 300 visitors a day on a nice weekend, and this past weekend sure did qualify. It was gorgeous! But whatever their age, they all had to be in pretty darned good shape to get there. I think the hiking trail is 2.5 miles long to get in to the point where where we had to picket the horses, then an additional half a mile up to the falls.
I’m glad I didn’t have to walk that far because that last half mile about killed me. I definately need to get more exercise! The horse trail is 8 or 10 miles long, depending on which trailhead you park at. The Alabama side was much prettier, but also much more rugged, with a mile or so of it going through a limestone rock field where there was barely a hoof’s-width of open ground between them. It made for some very dicey going. But even the Tennessee side had it’s share of them. Hal’s horse slipped on a big shelf of table-rock and fell down with him. He fell on Hal’s legs too, but Hal wasn’t seriously hurt, just bruised up pretty good. I’ll bet between the 4 of us we said “Watch your feet” a thousand times.
Yeah it’s at White Sands NM.
Behind the camera of course:’) The one with my mom...the truck is behind her. We were about half way to the end.
Ouch
I liked this one of me and Bob...
And these of Faith and Blade...
Hal, Faith and Blade having a snack. Hal had a friend in the lower right corner. Hal was sneaking him a hotwing snack..
This one showss why they call it "The Walls of Jericho", but it doesn't begin to do justice to the size of the place. If you look in the lower left corner, about 2 saplings to the right of a bigger tree, you can just barely see a person...
These were at the lowest level, below the 3rd falls...
Looking down on the middle level from the upper level...
Some pretty flowers on the trail up to the falls...
And finally, the links to 2 video clips of the upper falls. I'll have to appologize for the camera orientation. I forgot that it doesn't rotate the image when you're doing video, so you'll have to cock your head to one side or the other to see them. Sorry 'bout that!
I hope y'all don't mind all the pics, but I just couldn't stop.
She was moving them. She had one and didn't know where to go. I picked her up with the gold kitten and it fell about 2 feet.
The good news is that it's eyes are open now! Blue.
Did you feel like you were floating? I never want to “fly” off again but it seemed to take a long time to hit the ground. Ouch.
Beautiful country
Where’s Bob?
Thank you all so much for your support and suggestions. I’ll start slow with grooming and such. It was hard to admit my fears but you helped me a lot.
You are a great group of people! I need to spend more time on the Saddle Club threads.
Jean
What beautiful pictures. Next time - have a gun with you :)
Yeah. I didn’t know what to do with it in Calif so I left it at home.
Just gorgeous pictures :) I can see Frog’s pink cast.
The pictures are breathtaking - I wanna go explore :)
Thank goodness kittens are pretty hardy. Gold with blue eyes sounds beautiful - who gets that one?
