My commute is 22 miles each way. I took pictures on the way to work the other day of the mountains I see. The pictures don't do them justice at all - although driving 65 mph and taking pictures convinced the rest of the work traffic that I was crazy and they got out of my way. Going west into work I see the Singatse Range, the Buckskin Range, the Pine Nut Range, the Virginia Range, the Flowery Range, the Carson Range, the Pinon Hills and the Sierras. Coming home going east I see all of the above except the Sierras and the Carson Range, and also see the Desert Mountains and the Dead Camel Mountains. Not as good as trail riding pictures but you can see why it's hard to be depressed about my commute :)

That’s good. No she didn’t act like it bothered her much for me to press on it. No flinching. She’s still walking around and eating. I figured she’d not want to eat if she was really close.

Gorgeous mountains. I love the Rockies. Just don’t like the cold. We went in June when I was a teen and it snowed. We thought we would freeze.

Hey remember those things I talked about passing on Amtrak last year? Well..today I checked them out and guess what? I SAW THE MARFA LIGHTS!
To: HaveFaith
I was driving thru mountains today and my mom was saying “look over there”

It has snowed on the 4th of the July at Lake Tahoe. There is never any month safe from snow although only up at the top, not out where I live.

Good morning Duchess! Look at all that big sky! I know the pictures don’t do it justice, I’ve driven through that part of the country.
Glad you finally got the pictures to post... We hit the couch early last night!

It was edema... excess fluid retention that would pool under the belly.
To: Duchess47
It has snowed and hailed already today here. :~)
I put the horse’s blankets back on last night. They’d been off for three weeks, I thought we were done with all that for the year.
To: HairOfTheDog
That just ain’t right! Kinda makes you feel betrayed. There ought to be an off switch that you can flip that says “No more freezing after THIS date”.
To: CindyDawg
Be careful and have fun. They are pretty with snow on them.
To: HairOfTheDog
Please, tell me it is normal in late pregnancy and will not cause any problems, dangers.
I’ve been at work all day and not seen her, but Hal says nothings happened yet.
Her belly was really hanging low this am, but not angled in the middle yet.
To: HaveFaith
Well, in the case of the poster here who had it happen, the advice was that it was relatively normal, that it would go away after the birth, but I'm not convinced that was the most 'active' solution. They were the type who had to be dragged kicking and screaming to call a vet, even though they had no experience with horses or birthing, so there's that. I probably would have taken a more active role in getting it looked at if it were my horse.
Edemas in general are a poor circulation issue. They are helped by mild exercise, something late-term mares don't really want to do. So I'm not really sure what ~should~ be done.
If you want to compare, I did find an old picture of the edema on the other poster's mare. It looked like a spare tire had been mounted under her belly.

Evening everyone!
I hope that everyone is well! I don't have much to report- work has kept me very busy. I had my meeting with the VP yesterday and it went well. We are now down by three people, so the pressure is on.

Looks sort of like Wyoming.
How is the mare?
